Yes it is. That's why don't see those kinds of slums ever coming up in Bangalore which is right now, the new nexus for opportunities and migration. my family is in legal battle for over 10+ years against garbage cleaner slum settlers from unknown place on our 1+ acre land which my grandfather bought 90+ years ago. municipality provides everything from water to electricity to even voter cards. now wherever I visit our plot. kids in those areas legit think that it belongs to them. they will even start fighting . and authorities does pretty much nothing but ask us why didn't we manage our plot when they started encroaching in first place. ( it can be done with big bribes only sadly and even after that these people with come back again in few weeks and start living there like nothing happened. )

i am a bmc worker, this you tuber has put minute details, which i have observed from few years and all are correctly explaned....... political pressure and vote bank and earned money is the key drive behind this.... .... you don't have to earn to buy a home just go in Mumbai,search for open bmc land, put 4 bambu, add patra shed, after 15 years you will get at least 350 square feet flat whichbwould be in Mumbai.... ...... without doing any work, until then you can rent this slum for 4k-5k for migrant ot wrking class family...... More money you could generate than that of SIP or mutual funds, those classy working class rent these shanties and take loan, to buy home outside Mumbai, and pay emi.......... what an outstanding life 😁👏 some people toil their all life just to buy single flat in Mumbai, slumdog get it easily..

These slums have rent same or more, the problem is they don't want to move or travel from train. Whether it's private or govt land. Slum issues has to be tackled and these people use their kids as their protection.. People living in Mumbai slums earn more money than the middle class people of other states bcz of zero rent and then making of new rooms and put them on rent. A slum person first encroaches the land then makes a small room, after few years, makes more rooms and then give them on rent. Imagine the blind system who knows everything but never takes an action

We bought an expensive flat as it was sea facing. There were only slums in front of it so sea view didn’t get blocked (flat at a high level). Then these slum people got free flats and a big building was constructed in place of the slums, which was taller than ours and blocked all the sea facing view. The slum people living illegally became rich all of a sudden and our flat value dropped. Never move anywhere near a slum …

Fun fact: muslims constitute 14.2% of nation's and 20% of Mumbai's population but they have 45% contribution in Mumbai slum population, while almost zero jain, sikh and very few Christians live in slums, well I'm not saying that its because of one particular community that our country has slums, but saying that how some minority communities of our country are so progressive and follow law and order and rules and regulations while majority hindus and specially muslim community are most ill mannered people of our country. We have to prioritise family planning and urban planning otherwise slums problem in India will never go away
