This looks like a good system, I've been looking around at static grass applicators lately. Was this the Pro or the Micro applicator you were using? If it was the larger Pro, would it still be feasible to do smaller sections like lineside tufts of grass and weeds since can vacuum up what doesn't adhere to small areas you glue? Iain
@NewJunction6 жыл бұрын
It was the Micro pro lol which is still pretty big.

What is the best sort of "fixative" for this static grass once it is finally where you want it? Could I get away with using 3:1 modpodge and water mixture? Or should I buy a glue specifically for finishing the grass? My end goal is to make a few dioramas with static grass- and I will have action figures sitting and or standing on it. Thanks so much for the help:)

Yes,multiple 2mm colours and 4mm for unkept areas, maby not the 6mm option as it would be a tad large.

Just as I'm planning to do my own layout's scenics, your tutorials are proving out brilliant! Just one thing, you didn't clarify on whether this method works on other surfaces, such as expanded polystyrene (which is what my layout's built on), plaster of paris etc. If you could clarify whether it would or not, that'd be great!
@NewJunction6 жыл бұрын
The same method works on any surface, clip the crocodile clip into a screw embedded into the polystyrene in your case! :)
@reddington34596 жыл бұрын
in reality 2mm is 6" lol if i let my grass get that long my wife would have a fit. However the tractor tracks @10:30 look fantastic.
@howarth0046 жыл бұрын
They are good , cheaper these days , the original noch was over £100 , small tip paint base in green first .. you can also just clip the earth clip on to track saves banging a nail in
@stocktonjunction6 жыл бұрын
I always paint my base in brown paint usualy buy a 5litre pot of chocolate brown from homebase add a bit of white and looks quite a good earth colour then any patches that show through just look like earth also a lot cheaper than buying dedicated earth colour paints in much smaller pots

6mm grass looks ok in small patches on n gauge as it would be 3ft grass which u do see in unkept areas in the real world
@Pierre-de-Standing6 жыл бұрын
Good point, it is easy to forget that in OO gauge that 2mm is the equivalent of 6" (so I'm guessing 1' for N?) which would be a bit long for a lawn, but OK for a meadow.
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
It might have been better to mop up after each layer to save you mixing all of the wastage together? I do that to avoid wasting the inevitable overspill! ;-) I use their layering spray from a bottle with pump action applicator.....as the aerosol goes on to things you don't want it to go on to...track, backscenes, buildings, etc....and remains tacky. I have hence not used the aerosol on my actual layout, but on parts away from the layout.
@NewJunction6 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, The idea of the demo was to show how quick and instantly it could be done using their layering spray system. Plus I'm a terribly messy modeler, you guys would really cringe if you saw my loft in between shoots! :D
