Thanks for your grt work, w/o subscribing I do personally visit your channel every day and check... I was aware of all the techniques, personally i use slab method, but the uniform rolling coil is more challenging than the slab method. It can be done by using the flat surface thick plate or slab. Again that too needs lots of practice..... Looking forward to many more videos... Stay blessed!!!!

Thanks and yes the coil method is a little more complicated when compared to the slab or the jhumka mould. Although coiling is an excellent technique in hand building which can result in some beautiful independent pieces that specialize in coils.

Super mam. Learn lot from u. How to identify good clay mam?
@nehagopinathpillai
@nehagopinathpillai 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's usually based on purpose. If it's for jewellery the fineness and elasticity needs to be checked. Storing clay also matters, store then in thick plastic bags and tightly close them. It helps retain the moisture so the clay won't dry out. Keep it away from sunlight or fan. Store it in a cool place.

These pins r remove before burning?
@nehagopinathpillai
@nehagopinathpillai 4 жыл бұрын
These are nichrome wires. They won't melt inside the kiln. Hence won't be removed. Once a pin or hook is put into wet clay, nothing is removed. It becomes a permanent fixture after its fired.

I didn't know you get a gauge 25 nichrome wire. But if its nichrome, you can use it for pendants and earrings. i would suggest using a thinner wire like gauge 28 for stick beads and ghungroo beads.

It's got to be a high temp wire. One is either nichrome or kanthal. But nichrome is a lot more easier to work with. Wire used: Nichrome wire gauge 28 for stick beads and ghungroo beads; gauge 26 for earrings and 24 for pendants. Gauge 24 (India): amzn.to/2ygy4CJ Gauge 26 (India): amzn.to/33W8w9X I don't have a link for gauge 28. But you can use a 26 instead.

What are all the types of clay for tis jewellery making ? Madam
@nehagopinathpillai
@nehagopinathpillai 4 жыл бұрын
Clay is broadly classified into porcelain, stoneware and earthenware clay. Earthen ware is low fire and that's what I use for terracotta jewellery making. Stoneware is more functional (ceramic plates, cups etc). They fire mid range and porcelain is the purest form of clay and also the most expensive.

Size of the u pin
@nehagopinathpillai
@nehagopinathpillai 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the how big you make the ghungroo bead. Typically if the ghungroo bead is 5 mm, I would try to insert pin atleast 4mm inside and 2 mm would project outward. Hope this clarifies you Q. It isn't a standard size that fits all beads. If you make bigger size beads then the u-pin length would have to correspond to the size of the bead.
