I know this comment is 2 years late but... about 5 years ago we tackled making chaps for our dinghy and they came out beautiful! However, I had the luxury of doing it in my home (on land - vs on a hot dock). Everyone said I should go into business making dinghy chaps. HELL NO! I told them that no one could afford what I would charge to endure the PAIN of making another set of chaps for a dinghy. Good for you and WELL DONE!

It was not what I expected, as I was looking for the idea of the rain cover. But, thus was actually an excellent idea for preserving PVC from the sun. By covering your dinghy, did the dampness underneath the SUNBRELLA create mold or black or green dots from mildew? Also, you skipped a lot in your pattern making so it was hard to tell what your plan was for fitting to the inside or outside if the tube. But, once you see the well made finished product I am having another view of what you did. Thank you

We are about to make new dinghy chaps for our 10 year old Hypalon Zodiac dinghy. I can assure you that the sunbrella chaps that are on there right now (10 years old, but falling apart) have kept the dinghy tubes in very good shape. There is no mold or black or green dots from mildew. The sunbrella fabric is not glued to the Hypalon, and is free to breathe.

Hypalon is UV ok, you do not need cover for it. It works well. FOR PVC better to have
