When I do this I get a double line without a fill. How are you getting the fill in the line? By filling it after you complete the curve

Wonderful video. Suggestion: when you move your cursor, it would be helpful if you hesitate just a moment so viewers can find where you just moved it. This way we can see where you went and read which menu, menu-selection, or tool you chose much easier without having to review several times to find your cursor's selection. Thanks. I have tried copying a circle to clipboard and using that while making a spiro path as shown, but my resulting spiral ornament looks nothing like yours. It looks like...the inverse? Like it's automatically filling the path with color, so it's not just a line, it looks like a funky geometric shape. That's the best way I can describe it. Any idea what I'm missing?

+Geek Charm Same. After about 30 attempts including having my son stand next to me watching what I'm doing to see if I'm missing something obvious, he's as baffled as I am. I get a very complex geometric mess.

I had the same issue. I'm still not sure what causes it but I found if I hit control-z (undo) it took out the fill in and left me with the just the shape I was going for

If you still wonder: He manipulate the preferences and set a color and width for the stroke. The color he uses is red and the width is 0.2 and that's it! With this set you get this lines...

+RedSky Perhaps I'm too late, but in Inkscape, you can go to Help menu -> Tutorials which covers the basics and shortcuts (including the mentioned above).
