Hopefully, Fourdees will produce a version. I feel Shapeways have fallen way behind in terms of quality. Westcliff could do a good job but production is unreliable at the moment. Thanks for a very informative video 😊

I thought about doing Tom Rolt last year, but the availability of the chassis is the issue. I am working (slowly, due to lack of time), on my own design of chassis, to use in many models. I am currently re-working my RNAD deisel, to be much more prototypical, and it already comes with the Taly name/numberplates.

Glad it worked out in the end and that Shapeways customer support was easy to work with, considering you mentioned the model plastic was soft the first few times and the 3rd only felt stiff after being left to cure in the sun, I can't help but wonder if perhaps shapeways isn't giving the models enough time to properly cure and set before they're shipped off? This might explain the brittle nature of the first two models and their subsequent demise after being painted

100% agree. I’ve since used the paint mix on other models and it worked first time and cured overnight. I won’t be using shapeways again, that’s for sure

Yay, the one I've driven! The loco looks great. I also find it interesting that after lockdown the TR board seemed to say we want all the engines green. The message seemed to get lost after no.2, for a bit of 90's nostalgia no/4 should be in the GWR scheme it had 😉

Great video. I feel your pain with the body issues you had. I've had a white metal locomotive I brought once and when it was having the time with the paint remover I found to my horror the body was glued and the remover was dissolving the glue. And the tip for applying lining will be very helpful.
@GWilliamsonModels5 ай бұрын
Well you see how I apply my lining, and depending on what kit you have, you can sometimes get lining packs that actually fit a particular model. Of course, others just try and paint it on themselves

I don't know how you get your marking to be so flawless. Every time I try masking off a part, I get paint seepage. I'm using Tamiya tape and everything but the only thing that has works is masking it off them spraying over the tape with the background colour, but that leaves a little paint verge once the tape is removed.

The only thing I can think is that your paint is either too thin so it’s running a bit, or your coats are too thick. Maybe try adjusting these

@@GWilliamsonModels Exactly that too. My standard gauge line isn't big in the scenic section, because of space and budgetary considerations, so the NG element is to be based on a sand and gravel line - running preservation and passenger services on a weekend (now where have we seen that before 🤔🤔🤔🤭🤭😉). Thus my NG section is almost fleeting to have buried track etc. I really am inspired by the likes of Maggie and Gordon Gravett - Eg Ditchling Green.
