Thank you, I am glad I was able to help you in some way. It's not always easy to put yourself out there and try to help others, but I really appreciate you letting me know that I was able to be helpful.

You should put masking or packaging tape on the out as well as the inside of the enclosure. Outside just in case the drill starts to "walk" and prevent scratches while you work on it, and on the inside to prevent sharp bits.

Thank you for info. I have noticed having the correct bits for acrylic and plastic make a huge difference on the quality of the hole. Lately I have found myself using a cheap soldering iron for the smaller holes.

@@PatsCreatureCave yeah correct drill's makes huge difference but even with those i noticed if i drill to fast or to slow those sharp edges on the inside still happen. Soldering iron messes with my ocd :D :D i like all the holes the same lol.

What did you use for the water dish?

Smaller slings I don't typically use water dishes. Once they are a bit bigger I use .75 inch ceramic dishes.

But where did you find the 1st case or enclosure? I find that my searches for them are more expensive or the same price as a Zilla or knock off zilla… which defeats the purpose of diy. I’ve used this method on smaller enclosures, with a smaller hand held drill & they come out great. It’s just the bigger ones I have an issue with on the price. Another thing I thought of- was just buying the acrylic sheets and cutting to size & using hinges to have a front opening. Have you tried that method?

It's been a while since I have bought those but I think I picked them up at the container store. I haven't really tried to make my own with hinged fronts and acrylic. Once these are outgrown I typically invest in full acrylic enclosures since the spoods will be in them quite a bit longer. Plus having front opening for the arboreals makes care a bit easier.

@@PatsCreatureCave I did see the amac at the container store & those were cheap for 4x4x7. Front opening is definitely a must! I learned that the hard way 😆
