Little mixing tip- I recommend limiting your basses(if they aren't already) and also limiting your sub. Then I recommend bussing the two and put a limiter on the buss in order to glue the sub bass and dubstep bass dynamically as one sound. optionally, I recommend putting a softclipper on the buss but before the limiter if you want the distortion style that you hear from HOL!, Automhate, and other heavy bass producers. Also the reason why I recommend limiting your basses and sub bass at first individually is because you want them later to be limited on the bus by a consistent amount(automations on dubstep basses causes volume fluctuations and the changing of notes on your sub bass also causes volume fluctuations). This leads to a cleaner sound where it doesn't kill your transients and the dynamics doesn't feel too squashed.

For those who didn't notice- when he was automation the volume of the fruity balance for sidechain, he was making the automation of the volume start ducking right before the kick actually played. That's actually something Zomboy does and its to emphasize the impact of the sidechain so the kick can come through much better.

Thanks for this tutorial! I know this is bare bones structure for tearout. Lowkey tho that's what I needed. I got a lot better understanding of the composition and automation.

This is more exactly Riddim, not Tearout. The signature element of that subtype is the signature machine Gun Bass, more energy and heavier drums. Sick tutorial anyways

Everything in the pack is compatible with Ableton or any other DAW. There are 3 Fruity Loops Projects that obviously can only be opened in FL Studio but that makes a very small portion of the overall pack. There are even programs online that can convert FL Project files to Ableton Project files if you still wnated to dig into the 3 included FL project files. Let us know if you have any other questions!

@@kryptxnmusic No... Riddim, tearout, brostep etc. are subgenres of dubstep. You're not wrong that it's dubstep, but it's also tearout/briddim (don't listen to either enough to really tell the difference).

Didnt really explain how to sidechain at all. Just showed us how to name the channel and then the automation channel magically appeared. Didnt go into at all how you actually get the bass and sub to interact with the automation And 5:24 he’s just running through all of these settings and you can barely keep up with what he’s doing to get the pitch automation to work with the bass and sub. Can hardly follow the curser to see where he’s clicking. Just not a good teacher
@rebirth41192 жыл бұрын
He's adding a fruity balance and automating the volume knob to do the sidechain. As far as 5:24 - he is setting the sub bass synth(serum) to be able to pitch bend 12 notes and 12 notes down(within the synth). He then automates(from the FL Studio tab) the pitch knob. What he does next is go to the bass sample and sets the FL Studio Pitch knob to also be able to pitch bend 12 notes and 12 notes down. He right clicks the knob and clicks "link to controller". This is Fl Studio's way of letting multiple knobs share the same automation clip. He sets the internal controller to be link to the sub bass pitch automation clip. This way the automation clip will pitch bend both the bass and sub the same way. Also something I feel he missed is with the bass audio sample. He should have set the stretching mode for the sample from resample to stretch. You probably saw that the audio sample was increasing and decreasing in length.

Last time I checked, Briddim isn't the same as Tearout. 🤷♂️

We literally get like 50 comments every day between all of our socials saying it's a different genre haha If we call it Tearout people say it's dubstep, if we call it dubstep people say it's tearout, if we call it brostep people call it riddim. We try to focus on the overall sound of Dubstep more than the genre as it's easily mixed up from person to person. At the end of the day it's all Dubstep ;)
