How to make the dongle rig

Thank you for sharing your dongle video very clear and works with great success. I've modified my rigs as never used the dongle rig before, my pulley rigs are tied using 70Ib straight through using trident tackle components so on one end I clip my imp onto the termalink and on the other end a clip a fast change link onto the termalink which replaces the perfection loop and put your hook onto the fast link incase you have to change a blunt hook or size of hook and then used 150Ib mono for my dongle crimped like you have done but you could make the loop to go onto the imp or crimp a dongle clip in place or use which way you prefer but this is my idea and I'm sure it will work same way as yours m8, good luck and tight lines on your next session 👍🎣🎣🎣

@North.West.Angling your welcome m8 I'm always trying new things to try and improve my catch rate, I'll use this for clean beaches but if I fish the rough stuff I'll tie it the same but use less components then not losing loads of gear 👍🎣🎣🎣

Couple of mods I do to my dongles, use a smaller hook on the end of the dongle for the baitclip, and you can slide rig tubing up the main hook (if you feel the need to) both side of the crimped dongle to stop it sliding up and down the hook. The fish hardly ever take the smaller hook, as we all know fish eat baits head first, but every now and then a nice whitting/pouting for bait will catch on the smaller hook. Good video that, and I also use varivas hooks, size 4/0 bigmouth hooks, very strong and reliable hooks mate 👍

Hi so you thread youre bait in the dongle and elastic it up but does the bait not slup off the dongle

@@MrGough22 you place your bait next to the dongle and then whip it on with bait elastic, this secures it then and won’t slide off. I now use braid with knots in it which also gives it extra security 👍🏻

What is the point of the dongle what difference does it make than a normal pulley rig carnt do looks great and it obviously works but what's the difference 👍🎣🎣🎣

Hi Neil, with the dongle you find the hook holds and gives you a better hook up in the corner on the fishes mouth, especially when fishing for rays and hounds. It’s also a lot better for fish care, prevent them from swallowing and deep hooking. It also gives you the the freedom of a moving hook and a proud point showing 👍🏻 give it a go for the rays 🎣

Where do the fishing weight go on to buddy

You will have an imp, splashdown, rotor bait clip on one end of your pulley rig your lead will clip onto that whichever bait clip you use then when you have tied your dongle the loop will go into where you clip your hook, as the bait is whipped onto the 3" dongle so the hook doesn't go into the clip if it makes sense 👍

South africans used it forever for shore fishing for sharks. They call it the dangle rig for obvious reasons

Dongle rig makes me laugh I have carp fished for 30 years it’s a hair rig no disrespect

None taken, I’m very familiar with the hair rig for carp fishing and also been familiar with what we call it as the dongle rig. Two options with the dongle having a free moving hook or snelled to be fixed in place, just like the hair rig. So many very similar rigs across carp/sea fishing with just slight variations. Anyway, it was a rig I’d never used before and it produced for certain fish such as rays.
