Great job. Very helpfull for me. I'll be sew my underquilt very soon and I think how to make all things (suspension channels, etc.) to make best solution for me. From yesterday I have everything. Now I have to wait for christmas time - generally for more free time :) Why did you use cheap sleeping bag? I think that better way will be 2x1,5m of Climashield Apex 6 (for example, maybe primaloft silver or different poliester insulation) - cost will be the same and weight much more lower. And comfort temperature even lower.

In the future you can sew small triangles on the edges. This solution is helpfull for cords channels preparing. At first traingles and than folding material to channels sewing.

One more thing. If you have better adjust underquilt, on the main suspension you can use special rope/cord buckles - you can find this as a "deszparyzator" by Lesovik. using this buckles you can move up your undequilt and loose a lissle bit front and rear channels. Look at this - you can much more better adjust your underquilt :)

Hey, like I've said in the beginning of my video: " You can skip all sleeping bag sandwiching process by using some kind of insulation instead of cheap sleeping bag..!" My goal of this version is to make it affirdable and ease of use. Because is much less effort to just grab a cheap sleeping bag as it is to look for a insulation oltions and so on... It's also easier to work with. And I found out by testing in a real life situations that those extra layers of fabric trap more heat inside because of air pockets. But yea, it ads weight. But 1,2kg is completely fine with me since it's working in even -10°C, Yeah.. ! The lowest was -10°C I have slept in it and it was totally fine..!! 👍

@@ImpulseFromWithin , Hey, -10? It's very impressive. I was think that I feel/sleep comfortable with lower temperatures, but this isolation/insulation will be too less for me :) Yes, of course, using two layers of some materials, isolation will be much better, but generally for wind. I prefere single material and thicker insulation. WIth this solution you can decrease your UQ about 400g. It;'s better for your kid - less weight to carry and cost should be similar. Kind regards and keep well, Simon

@@P5Yh0L I was impressed too! I was using tarp quite close to my body, but it could be even closer. It was simple 3x3 tarp with no doors, simple flying diamond configuration. I used proper sleeping bag with comfort limit of -12, and I was in my thin base layer, thermal socks and beanie.I also added my self made summer underquilt/underquilt protector to keep me safe from cold wind and to trap more heat inside. It was amazing! Later in the night when it was more wind I added windsock. So it was -10 and I felt great. At first I tbought that this underquilt is 0°C, but I was wrong. I want to try it in even lower temps with proper sleeping bag. Anyway soon will be video about that -10°C expierence, maybe in next 5 days or so.

Very nice, what is the approximate weight of the quilt and what it the temp rating ?

Hey! This underquilt turned out 1,2kg. But that is with 4mm shock cord. Of course you can skip sandwiching process, just use sleeping bag as it is without extra material. But many my tests shows that that extra material performs much better, it traps some heat between these layers too. So you can probably save some 200 grams or more by not using extra fabric. But I sugest to use it! Last week I was testing it in -10°C .. 🥰 OMG.. IT WORKS IN THESE TEMPS TOO..👍👍 So I was using a proper sleeping bag with a comfort limit -12°C. Also a tarp close to my body, so low profile. Also underquilt protector to keep breeze out and trap some extra heat. And when it was really windy, so after maybe 4h or 5h of sleeping I added a windsock. But I was in my thin base layer, beanie and thermal socks. No exta mats, clothes or other insulation. So will it go in colder temps..?... probably- Yes! But in that case with more badass sleeping bag. Because it was already close to the limit if my sleeping bag. Also if I had a second layer, extra clothes like fleece or wool. I think it will go even further. But I think lower than -10°C good idea is to add some extra pad or second underquilt. I hope it will help!

I’ve been shopping forever for a Vegan Friendly Underquilt!!!!!!! 😂 No not really.

Maybe, because you are not vegan isn't it!? Most top notch underquilts are with down filling so.....

Maybe in the west. In Poland we have the best on the worrld goose down, but it's too expensive for us and synthetic insulation is even 3-4 cheaper :) We use more climashield Apex or Primaloft Silver :)
