This tutorial will teach you how to do:
- Toggles (On/Off)
- Radials - such as hue shifts, anything that uses a float to go from 0 to 1
- Radials - also using 3 or more states to scroll through. Good for multiple materials swaps or other uses
The method used is using Direct Blendtrees, which is a newly described method by VRLabs.
It is the most optimised method to make your toggles, hue shifts, material swaps etc with, by far.

Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I personally love this new method waaaaaay more than the old one, it feels much easier to visualize to me :) I did have an issue where my toggles weren't working at first, but that was because I was using an FX controller that wasn't empty. If anyone else has this issue: You have to move your blendtree layer in your FX controller to the very top of the list!

I've often seen blendtrees setup so that they just have one motion, in which each keyframe is one toggle/material/etc Should this work with animations that are configured that way, or is it very particular in the settup?

Thank you, this is definitely a game changer for toggles, I had no idea about this. But is there a way to simulate the "Any State" in the FX layers using Blendtrees? Like when you toggle an object, another object that's connected will turn off?

im trying to follow this and i got the regular on and off toggles to work, but i cant seem to get a radial toggle to work with 3 motion fields. another avi i bought is set up this way but i tried to copy paste the setup from there but that didnt work either, and i cant seem to find any other tutorials for this, if anyone could help i would appreciate it i have been messing with this for 5 hours now trying to fix it lol
