How to make Tortilla Chips from Scratch | IN 3 MINUTES | Easy Recipe

Welcome to our Nicaraguan Cooking Channel with Jimena Jimenez. In this video we show you how to make Tortilla Chips from scratch in 3 Minutes! Please check out our other videos to learn how to make other dishes from Nicaragua & Latin America.
Here are the Ingredients that you will need.
Tortilla chips
1 cup of cornmeal
1 cup of water
Oil for frying
1 Ziploc bag (to make the tortilla mold)
Process:
In a bowl, put the cornmeal and little by little add the water, kneading it until you obtain a homogeneous dough, you will know that the dough is ready when it does not stick to your hands when making a ball of dough.
In the plastic mold, with the help of the palm of the left hand, make a wall to form a barrier when stretching the dough and with the right palm, give small slaps trying to stretch the dough until it forms a thin thickness.
In a non-stick frying pan without oil, just heat.
Once our tortilla mold is ready, take the dough stretched in our left palm and remove the plastic with our right hand, put it in the hot pan and wait about a minute to turn, do the process 3 times in total and once ready, remove from the heat.
Wait a few minutes to cut the tortilla in two and then into triangles until you get 8 parts or you can also cut it into strips.
Return to the frying pan, add oil to fry, wait for it to warm and fry your chips. To give it a little flavor, add a pinch of salt and can enjoy with your favorite salsa.

Estos son los ingredientes que necesitará.
Tortilla chips
1 taza de Harina de maíz
1 taza de agua
aceite para freír
1 ziploc bag ( para hacer el molde de la tortilla )
Proceso:
En un bowl ponemos la harina de maíz y poco a poco agregamos el agua, amasándolo asta obtener una masa homogénea, sabremos que la masa está lista cuando no se nos pega en las manos al hacer una pelota de masa y hacer la forma redonda.
En el molde de plástico con ayuda de la palma de la mano izquierda hacemos una pared para ir formando barrera al estirar la masa y con la palma derecha damos pequeñas palmadas intentando estirar la masa asta formar un grosor delgado.
En un sartén antiadherente sin aceite solo calentamos.
Una vez lista nuestro molde de tortilla tomamos la masa estirada en nuestra palma izquierda y retiramos el plástico con la mano derecha, ponemos en el sartén caliente y esperamos aproximadamente un minuto para dar vuelta, hacemos el proceso 3 veces en total y listo retiramos del fuego.
Esperamos unos minutos para cortar la tortilla en dos y luego en triángulos asta obtener 8 partes o puedes cortarlo en tiras.
Regresamos al fuego con un sartén agrávanos aceite para freír, esperamos que caliente y freímos nuestras chips, para darle un poco de sabor agréganos una pizca de sal y ya podemos disfrutar con tu salsa favorita.

Thank you so much for sharing how you make tortilla chips from corn flower (nixtamalzed). I'm going to try to make them with millet flour because I am sensitive to corn, the key thing I was missing was the stove top part, thanks again! (I know you said you used Del Comal 'cornmeal', but here in the United States cornmeal is not nixtamalized.)
