Yes, it's the same for 55 armors. The superior armors are different, it's either looted from events or pitbosses, or from the dark ambassador NPC in HQ.

60 intense still has higher defense. Lvl 55 53 and 50 type c armors are only good for the ability like for example leveling, not for PVP.
