I love your videos! I'm wondering if these clips are in real time. I'm having so much trouble getting my consistency right. Seems my icing crusts so fast. Ugh. But yours is perfect.
@SharilynsCookieStudio3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Debbie! I will almost always speed up my clips just a little bit (some are more than that, but those are obvious). I'm a very slow decorator so if I didn't do that we'd be here all day! 😆If your icing is crusting fast, make sure you aren't sitting under a vent or where air is hitting the cookie while you're decorating. That can make a huge difference! I've also heard icing can crust too fast if there's too much meringue powder, so you could also try adjusting that and seeing if it helps. Good luck!!

How do you prevent icing bleed?
@SharilynsCookieStudio4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristina! To prevent color bleed, I try my best to not over color my icing. I think that's key! Most of the time, you don't need as much color as you think you do, especially for blacks and reds. Color it until it's about halfway to the shade you want, cover it and let the icing sit and develop for awhile (an hour if you can, or even longer). The color will deepen as it develops. It will also darken once piped on the cookie. Sometimes when I'm piping on a cookie, it's not quite as dark as I would like, but as it sits, it deepens up. I also use a fan, and I think this helps as well. Also, I find thinner icing seems to color bleed more, and my thinnest icing is about 20 second, which is pretty thick for flooding. I hope this helps!

How many seconds is your icing??
@SharilynsCookieStudio4 жыл бұрын
Hi Miranda! I usually use 20 second icing to both outline and flood. I hope that helps!

Hi I love your cookie designs! How thick do you roll out your cookies?
@SharilynsCookieStudio4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! Thank you so much! I'm so sorry I'm just now getting back to you. Somehow I missed your question! I roll my cookies to 3/8", so they're definitely on the thicker side. If you have any other questions, let me know and I promise I'll get back to you much quicker! 😂

Thank you! I've eaten cookies a few weeks after they were made and they still tasted good (they were in an airtight container). I don't know that I would officially recommend doing that just to be safe, LOL but a week or so should be fine!

How much do you charge people for these designs?
@SharilynsCookieStudio2 жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm sorry I'm just now getting back to you on this. I'm not currently open for custom orders. Back when I was just starting out and learning, I charged $36/dozen. Now I would charge more; how much more though I'm not sure! These cookies definitely take a lot of time; more time than most people realize and definitely more time than I thought before I started making them!
