Hye there, as it may not be mentioned in the ingridient,but oreo has officialy announced that oroes are not vegan as they milk as cross contant,you can check this faq from their official website Edit:i have delved more into the depth of oreo being vegan or not,so i found that officialy oreo had to announce that they are not vegan bcuz they use milk in the same facility in which oreo and other stuff are being prepared,so basically they are not adding milk or animal directly into the making of oreo So now i have to change my mind,so it bowls down to vegan's own conscious if they want to eat it or not Personally i feel if vegan food is prepared in the same facility that is used for making non vegan food,then i am cool with it,intentionally we dont have to add any non vegan ingritient in our food So if i am gonna be strict in the regard that vegan foods should be made in a facility that strictly should restrict making any non vegan item,then i have to leave my home,and i couldnt survive anywhere Another ethical dillema for not eating oreos would be palm oil,but certainly we vegans else cant be directly linked to issiues of production of anything(now somebody will point out,then why not consume dairy,well again it is debatable,and i am against dairy,as by consuming dairy we are promoting cruelty inflicted on mothers(cow),calves,but as vegan wont be left to eat anything as most of agriculture land involves deforesration),it also depends on country to country manufacturing of oreos I will glad to know if why vegans should not consume oreo,in what respect,and also try to be country specific standards of manufacturing of oreo cookies

I read somewhere that Domino sugars produced in some of their factories on the east coast aren't processed with bone char. So just be mindful of WHERE (if using Domino sugar) it was produced. I suggest reaching out to Domino to confirm which factories don't use the bone char processing method.

Hey Gretchen ! I remember coming across this video 2 years ago and tried making this and it was THE BEST ! I want to try to bake this again this week ! I remember last time the filling was rlly sweet ! Can I reduce the sugar ? For the cookie base, can I use solid coconut oil for butter and stevia for confectionery sugar ? Thanks ❤ subbed
@GretchensVeganBakery2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks exclamation I’ve tried to reduce the sugar in the cookie recipe and have also used coconut sugar in the past because there’s so few ingredients in the recipe it’s difficult to substitute or take an amount out. Your shortbread cookie will be very dry and crumbly it’s not going to come together if you don’t use the full amount of sugar. I have used to be though but only half and half sugar. As for the sugar filling though you can adjust that to your liking that’s not really a big deal I believe the coconut oil should work as well
@dontreadmyname39042 жыл бұрын

Look at labels! Sustainable palm oil is available globally now (I think). Our perspective is collectively changing. I am plant based, that doesnt stop others from adding animal stock to my soup or cheese on my salad. I know what I want this world to be for everyone and I am doing what I can to make the shift in perspective comfortable... by making familiar foods, only healthier. I love watching your vids!

The first time I used this recipe it was perfect, then when I tried literally 6 times making it again it's just not the same 😭. They are so crumbly and turn to dust at the slightest touch. I don't understand what I'm doing differently because they weren't like that the first time :(. I tried switching to vegetable shortening rather than vegan butter, using a combination, only using vegan butter, adding a tiny bit of water , adding more flour, adding less flour, adjusted the sugar, and tried chilling the cookie dough before baking. I'm getting so frustrated and I don't know if you check KZbin comments but I figured I would ask if you might know why this is happening? 😥
@marianasanchez82503 жыл бұрын
Is there any alternative for fat (flavorless oil or maybe vegetable shortening) ? Since I can't find vegan butter that easily on my country... The measurements would remain the same?
