Hi Ange, It solidifies in the cold, so even overnight at my home with the thermostat set at 75 degree F it got a little bit harder, then during the day as the sun came out it was liquid again. During the Summer of course it is always in it's liquid state. We store either in a plastic or glass bottle or jar and it can last upwards of a year.

Cold compressed oil is heated not once but 3 times during the process. Once when it's in the shell to get to the copra then 2x as the oil travels through the filters. I stand my ground because my dad investigated this and is adamant of how the process works as he took tours of the factories to learn the process and decided that this way (the way his mother taught him) and the way she did it all their lives is the purest way.

Yes, this is the best video for making your own coconut oil, that I've seen. Good idea to do 5 coconuts at a time. My only problem is that our coconut trees are so tall that I can't get to them until they fall off the tree. Even if I could reach them, it is hard to tell when they are ripe enough to eat/harvest.

Hello the one thing I love about you is that you don't denied Jesus Christ and like me, we both adore Jesus Christ and always put him first. Amen to that and may the Lord bless you for helping people out. One question I would like to know, after you do the oil and the milk, do you leave it out or put it in the fridge until you're all done with the product? Thank you for your time and don't listen to negative comments, just keep doing what you're doing because unlike me I enjoy watching you and appreciate your teaching.

I've been using this on my hair as a mask and it has made my hair look and feel great. I suffer from dry scalp and after I dry my hair, I always get peeling skin right at my hairline, at the top of my forehead. It's so incredibly annoying. I dab just a little bit of Merit VCO virgin coconut oil on the flaky spots and they behave all day. I am going to give some of this to my sister to use on my niece's eczema since I have heard it works wonders there too. Just for fun I rubbed this on my arms and elbows and it worked as a great moisturizer with a little sheen, I can see myself using this on my legs during the summer!

mancunianinlondon. You need my dad to school you in what cold press really is and why this is the only healthy way to make coconut oil. He is knowledgeable in everything there is to know about making coconut oil. He even paid for his own independent study at the behest of the American government to prove that it has no bad cholesterol. I'll have to make a video with him teaching about the 2 processes and post it. He was just here Sunday teaching me and I kept thinking I should have taken notes.

After I make my coconut oil and while is still hot I measure to 3 ounces and add about a tablespoon of ground rosemary that I dry outside for about a week in the sun and pulverize after, I mixed them in a small glass container and after a week the oil starts turning green like olive oil, I shake the bottle once a day, so the oil mix well with the ground rosemary then after a week I start using the oil on my skin or my scalp and it works wonderful, and also has a lovely smell.

Where in BZ are you from, Joe? The coconut trees I planted at my place in Seine Bight Village, to replace the local coconuts that were being destroyed by bugs and blight, are now producing fruit. I plan to make oil from my coconuts, but I won't be using heat. The point of not using heat is that you don't damage all of the healthful properties of the coconut, which are destroyed by heat. The oil you make is great for frying a big yellow (or red, or black) snapper, but you have taken out lots of the great essential nutrients in the process. Unheated coconut oil helps balance the bugs in your gut, killing yeast that tends to get out of hand if you eat too much processed food. BTW, I think it is great that you are teaching your kids about BZ food skills. They might think it smells gross now, but they will be thanking you in a few years.

Due to the fact that my dad had to jump through hoops for the American government when he first started to produce his coconut oil and sell it here, he got a tour of the cold press factories. They use intense heat several times in the process including when the oil passes though the tubes on the final end of the packaging process to be filled into the bottles.

I see I'll have to go to the expert, my dad and record him teaching us about the Cold Press process vs this process. This is why I stand firmly behind the process I used.

Thanks for the information, I like it very much, I wish I had a way of making it cold, but I don't so I'll use this method for now, I tried it and is great, unlike other oils, coconut oil and nut oils do not oxidize when expose to temperature (peanut is not a nut) even olive oil witch is great when virgin gets bad when heated because it is hi in monounsaturated fat and oxides when heated, coconut on the other hand is full of Fatty acid and Lauric acid which are the essential fatty acids, they do not oxide when brought to hi temperatures. So even if we do it this way, we are fine, but is not virgin once you heat it, just let Joe know that. :-)

I watched the video and it's very informative . But is there a video before this step in the process ?
@keokethomas849311 жыл бұрын
Actually as the name suggests, Cold Press method does not involve high temperature heats at all. It utilises the fermentation method and as Jelena Miokovic enquired, yes it is better for you as it doesn't get cooked but is created in a raw state. The cooked method as you have shown is still an acceptable method however the Cold Press Fermentation method, which can be done at home very simply is still the better method.

Hello! I love watching various 'old' ways in making things. You say this is the "Cold Press Process". What temperature are you cooking at? I would need to know this, before I agree it is "Cold". If you are cooking at 120 degrees F or less then yes it would be considered "Cold Processed". higher than 120 degrees F would not be considered "Cold Processed". Although it would still be good for bath and body products. Anything other than the" Chemical Extraction" method is good to use. Thank you.
