What a good recycling idea. Shells are inexpensive, and even better if you can go beach-combing to find them along with bits of smooth glass. You could also add bits of broken china. I really like this idea. TFS Greetings from England, Hugs from Elaine

Thanks, those look really cute. :) I also realized that when you cut enough off the bottoms of certain bottles (mine are Aquafina) they look like flowers! So I've been making some of those. Thanks again for such great tutorials. :)

@dorothydanridge What type of water bottles are you using? We have found them to be incredible strong and flexible (that's why it is better to recycle them rather than sending them to the landfills). Regarding the decorated pieces, if you are unable to keep a smooth cut on the edges, you might try applying clear glaze or dimensional paint or Aleene's Tacky Glue along the edges or do what Heidi did and only hang the decorated pieces from the bottom of your necklace so they are not near your neck.

Power Tools of Justice- I use acrylic paints from the craft store. My favorite brand is Delta. If you look on their bottle, it shows Opaque, semi Opaque, Translucent. I try to choose the colors that say Opaque for best coverage.

Does the back of the water bottle piece does not itch the skin at contact or it has to be done as a large necklace in order to avoid contact with the skin?

Do you have any projects or tutorials that use the rest of the plastic bottle? The top and bottom? Otherwise I'll only really be recycling/upcycling half a bottle. ):

I love that idea but can you use another paint other than acrylic? I can imagine them as nice earrings to, Also, sometimes when you cut plastic bottles the edges can be sharp, do you have that problem at times? and can you use another type of glue also?

You can use paint for plastic....altho it's a spray paint and not very eco-friendly. Whenever I cut plastic water bottles or soda cans, I round the edges so they are not sharp. Also make sure your scissor cutting is smooth and not ragged....What glue were you thinking of using?

Please don't take this as an insult, but am I the only one who thinks the lady on the left sounds like Lady Elaine Fairchilde? My mom agreed with me when I said that. Cool crafting project, though! I don't drink bottled water, but this is seriously neat!
@peggyt12439 жыл бұрын
Some of us do not even buy bottled water so we have no garbage. Regardless of what craft you make with them, eventually they will end up in a landfill.
@Cool2Craft8 жыл бұрын
+peggyt1243 Yes, but pretty cool to be able to wear your trash for awhile :) Thanks for stopping by!
@dyndor7 жыл бұрын
peggyt1243 I agree. What many people don't know is that a complete bottle or tin can are accepted by recycling depots, but they won't accept parts of bottles or cans. So in some ways, this is a bit wasteful. Regardless, I make beautiful things out of bottles and cans sometimes, and it's a lot of fun.
