QDC, Maestro, Welcome Back. Sheperd Paine and Francois Verlinden would be very proud of you. What you do today, with your modeling skills and approach, is what they always have, even before "marketing" hit the model kits world. You bake your cake from scratch, not from a Betty Crocker's box. Love your "HOW TO MAKE WATER EXPLOSIONS" method: creative and convincing. Looks great. Well done, Maestro! Can't hardly wait to see the final product. Thanks for sharing . Lou

Enjoyed that qdc. I guess you could also use acrylic gel medium instead of calking. Calking though is denser though, so it would be easier to mould than gel medium. You'd have to do several coats of gel medium and it dries clear. I use gel medium to create water for my ships. I might experiment with gel medium and get back to you. Great work. W

Just for accuracy, that is not silicone caulking: it is acrylic. The product QDC is using is water cleanup, while silicone caulking is cleanable with mineral spirits. Makes a big difference if you make a mistake!

+Monseigneur Childebert (MrChildebert) Gymnopedie :) You are familiar with classical music. Cool. To me, this song sounds modern and classical. Some of the best songs never sounds old and antiquated. @ajaxwithbleach16238 жыл бұрын
You inspired me to go out and buy a model car because you really got interested in model kits but idk if the level was too high or because I'd never built a kit before but it was really hard like some pieces snapped, gluing was a nightmare, and over all the instructions aren't enough to help me build the car. I'd really like to be able to build tanks like you but this model car killed my moral): you should make a video giving us the basics and walk us through the model world like where to start and what not. Models are so cool and you're so cool QDC you're so good at this teach me how to be like you man):

Thanks for the explanation on how to do explosion's in water - I learnt something so I've subscribed to your channel. Have you done one where you do explosion's in other materials such as sand or a rock face - or even snow ? Would snow be similar to water or would it be different ??? Thanks.

+qdc748a yeah it is, and it's up to modelers to use our best tool...inventiveness, like you´ve clearly showed us. On the other hand the modeling industry has to sell to survive, or many companies may go awol.....keep 'em rolling.....

@tylercole26888 жыл бұрын
I'm from the uk and our water isn't blue... go for a muddy colour with a tint of red for blood. it would be very convincing for the location. also you could try vallejo for making water, they have a mixture you can mix with paints to give a brilliant colour and appearance. apart from that.... very good work and continue on with the diorama! :)

Kudo's. At first I thought you were having a piss at us with "looking at glue dry (= looking at paint dry) at 1:24." lol. But it looks fine. For small exploding water columns (entering bullets) you must use cottontip hair drenched in the caulk. But having a quick google search I find that pretty much all (big) water explosions have a single fairly solid column of water. Only explosions that happen close under the surface are free to fan out. (google check "depth charge explosions" and 'B-25 "Mitchel" attacks the japanese sea defence' for inspiration ). Well, another opportunity to see the Saving Private R opening scene...
@qdc748a8 жыл бұрын
+ODDBALL SOK Thanks. Explosions are a challenge to make. I looked at many pictures of explosions on water and I settled with what I made. Thanks for the advice. Take care :)

nice job fella just mind for your operation overlord diorama the English channel isn't a nice blue colour
@AlaskafishStudios8 жыл бұрын
+69jmcc I'd mix a bit of blue with some browns and dark greens.
@oddballsok8 жыл бұрын
+69jmcc That is why it is set on the french side ; La Manche..and there it has a nicer colour :D
@ryancook64528 жыл бұрын
+ODDBALL SOK it'll mainly be red actually. most accounts and sources of d day say that the amount of blood actually ran down the beach and into the water near the sand. so a fair amount of it would be blood, add on the amount of bodies that would float around in the water whuch would pile against the tank traps and obstacles you won't see a lot of the water any way
@qdc748a8 жыл бұрын
+69jmcc Thanks. That's a popular question I get. I am not using blue in the final work. It would be more of a green appearance once finished.
