Do NOT subscribe unless my videos are actually helpful. The point of this channel is to help you, not promote me. So if my videos don't give you value...don't subscribe. If they do, though, please hit the sub button (it helps a lot!).
You and I are going to drink a lot of coffee together. Like, borderline dangerous amounts of coffee.
So, first things first. Pour yourself a mug and I’ll introduce myself real quick.
My name’s Jordan - but everyone calls me “J” - and I’m a 27th degree black belt in chugging coffee.
I’m also strength & nutrition coach, I hold several powerlifting world records, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have my writing featured in a variety of outlets like CNN, the Huffington Post, and Schwarzenegger.com.
But listen.
This channel isn’t for fame, publicity, cash, props, fist bumps, likes, pings, pows or whatever else there is.
It’s a place where you and I can chat.
I’ll never sugar coat, lie, or beat around the bush. I’ll tell you everything exactly as I see it. Some stuff you might like. Others you might not.
And that’s totally cool.
Either way, my goal here is to create a discussion. A place where you and I can get together, exchange ideas, and motivate each other to be better every day.
Like I said, we’re gonna drink a lot of coffee together - borderline dangerous amounts - but I’m excited. Because there aren’t too many online communities in which the sole purpose is to inspire and motivate one another.
And that’s exactly what you and I are going to do here.
To your success,
-J

And it tends to bring on discussion which then leads to someone feeling judged and it spirals. I told someone "my sober friends practice whatever works to keep them clean but, they don't send me articles about how not to drink or discuss my consumption. That's how weight can be too."

The “you can’t fck this up” mindset literally changed my life. It made me understand why I was having circles of guilt, binge, restriction non stop. Now I am making progress and every time I don’t do it perfect or as I wish, I continue with my plan and I don’t quit like I used to do all my life. And I apply that not only to nutrition but for everything in LIFE. #sortinghatsquad

Well said. The foods you eat off your diet should be the same ones you eat on your diet. Eat when you want to, plan ahead when possible and overall stick to your weekly calorie average. Ps low calories won’t be forever, everyone does get to go back to maintenance eventually which is a glorious day 🤣

The short periods of deficit then maintenance is such a good idea! I’ve been finding it super hard as I am fine for a few weeks then start getting super hungry, for the first few weeks I actually don’t have much hunger or cravings then it gets tough. All of your information for fat loss is the absolute best by far on the internet and it’s free! So glad I finally found you after struggling for 10 years to lose weight. I can see why now! I finally feel really confident that this is doable and your so funny when you imitate what other people might say. I literally laughed so hard in my car when you imitated that guy saying, ‘but Jordan I don’t want to have a salad for breakfast’ Hilarious! The way you explain everything and break it down makes so much sense! I finally feel confident and excited I can do this. Slowly but surely. Thanks again. You are a god send.

#sortinghatsquad THANK 👏🏼 YOU for bringing up social situations. I have been “doing a challenge with myself” since the beginning of the year. I have lost 20 pounds and almost 10% BF. I’m suuuper proud of myself and almost at current goals. In the beginning people would egg me on (including my boyfriend) and try to get me to indulge with a drink or junk at parties. Now when I show up to social events and people see my progress, instead of egging me on, they ask me what I’m doing, what I eat, and ask for tips on their own health.

For me the key is to stay around 1700 calories....I don’t feel like I’m starving (a binge trigger for me), and so far it’s easy for me to maintain. I eat a lot of veggies cause their filling and I am less likely to binge. I’m trying to tell my mind that I don’t NEED those cookies or chips and I can avoid buying them, but when they are in front of me it’s still a struggle, but I’m making progress. I’ve been in a consistent deficit for 5ish months after gaining back some weight and maintaining for a few months, I had to go back to tracking about 1 1/2 months ago as my weight loss was stalling. It’s taken me 2 years to lose 80lbs, with about 20-30lbs more to go. Your videos have been a huge help to me along the way...especially the you can’t fuck this up message. I went off track a little over a year ago and while I never stoped going to the gym my diet wasn’t great, I only gained back 7lbs, but I was being very hard on myself and it was extremely hard to get back on track! So thank you!

This channel has had my attention for hours. I have been searching for a channel that's not only motivating but one that will help me get on the right track to finally get to my fitness goals. A little backstory: for the last 8+ years (I'm now 23), I have been between 280Lbs and 300Lbs. I have always wanted to drop down to 220 but life and poor choices always come back to slap me off the rails for months on end. My fianceè and I are getting married in roughly 400 days and I want to finally drop down to my goal weight. This channel's guidance looks to be exactly what I've needed to boost myself to get to my goal! I will continue to watch and learn daily and implement everything I learn into day-to-day life. Hope to update progress over the next 90 days!

the trick with salads is to combine them with one soup spoon of olive oil, a bit of protein (if you need it, like en egg) and vinegar so this can be a full meal that removes physical hunger for me, but now that i am on maintenance i usualy put more stuff cuz i don't want to become underweight and i want to have more pleasure ! my personal favorite salad vegetables are 1. onion 2. tomato 3. broccoli (as raw as possible).

You totally nail some of the elements of being triggered to binge and the subsequent feelings of 'failure.' Thank you for reminding us that there ARE alternative ways to cope with our all-too-human 'slips' along the way. YCFTU! #sortinghatsquad

so it's all about accepting your mistakes and getting better little by little, taking your time, and this way all you do is win or stall, never lose a winner's mindset.

#sortinghatsquad. J...you don't know what a lifeline your videos are for me. I LOVE what you shared at the very end, and your advice on bright lines and "doing a challenge". It is so great, SO GREAT, to hear someone give simple understandable advice and instruction as well as adding tips and for the mental component. THANK YOU!!

The YCFU and the at the party sections spoke to me personally. I would give myself anxiety attacks from fear of over eating at a party or social event and then I would end up actually over eating and believed getting back on track wasn't worth it. Watching a lot of your videos have helped me have a better relationship w food, fitness and the journey of reaching goals. #sortinghatsquad

Instead of finding "diet" versions of things, I've found success subbing something closer to the whole food of whatever junk I'm craving. Since I started regularly making meatloaf with a baked potato and veggies for dinner, I haven't wanted a drive thru burger and fries at all! I now crave the meatloaf and potato, saving 2/3 of the calories and the cash!

my main trick is eat only foods that have a high (satiation/calories) ratio, usualy all of them have fiber, fat and probably protein (if i am protein hungry). I still eat carbs but whole grains and if i go into a small weight loss period i just replace carbs and extra fat(like only one spoon of olive oil, no carbs, protein only if i am hungry for it, in my lunch that it usually is a salad) with more vegetables, and i am not hungrier but there is less pleasure !

This is an awesome video!! Thank you. Calorie deficit sucks, there is NO way around it when goal is fat loss :). In the past, I used to get so anxious with any events especially, when I was in a calorie deficit. I know I have turned down events WAY in the past cuz of not effin' up. But, past couple years I am trying to work on better mental approach. I don't have to like going to events cuz it does mess up my routine (and I don't like most people, lol) BUT I don't have to avoid going to them either and take a less rigid approach. It is working better for me. I am a work in progress, lol. I also use another strategy for all planned events - creating a sort of calorie buffer the day of the event. Usually for me, it falls on a non-workout day - weekends - so I can eat "lighter" throughout that day to give me somewhat wiggle room for the event. On the day of the event, I stick with protein + veggies and very little carbs leading up to the event time. It works for me and keeps me less anxious as well and helps me enjoy the day better. Seltzer water/Carbonated water -- is lifesaver for me. It definitely works. White Potatoes --- another food that I found that keeps me full.
