Great stuff, loving it!! Had I watched this video first, I probably would've divided my grapes into two 3 gallon batches and added some water and sugar, just as you did. Instead I did it like a barbarian, or as they say; method traditionale haha! No water, stuffed everything into one large bucket. Oh well...if you like bold wine, you should try mine lol! Thankfully Pinot Noir is more subtle than Merlot or Cab Sauvignon, so it's great! Can't wait for the next video...yess!

You were right not to add water. My Zindanfel is really good with 14% alcohol and I added no sugar. You don’t add water to wine grapes when fermenting and you only add sugar when your alcohol potential is low so you test before you add sugar. So you did the right thing with your Pinot. I hope enjoy it.

@@markstevens7838 Great, thanks man! Mine is also 14%. I was shooting for 13.5% but it ended lower than my grapes usually do - at 0.992. Don't mind the 14% ABV tho at all. No sugar on my part either. The grapes alone were at 23°Brix ..slightly over in fact. Cheers!

Hey.. it’s me again… lol… in your 4 part video on making wine with mixed berries, you used 11 lbs. of sugar. In this video, you are saying 2 lbs. per gallon. That would be 10 lbs. of sugar for 5 gallons. Are there different amounts of sugar to use for different fruits? Thanks so much!!
@HowToDoneRight
@HowToDoneRight 3 күн бұрын
Great catch. 👍👍 I always use 2 pounds per gallon and always the same for all fruits. In that 4 part series if you read recipe in description says 10 to 11 pounds..... you can add a little more sugar if want a higher abv. But never do less than 2 pounds per gallon.

Removing grapes skins during fermentation is a way to prevent it. Removing methanol from wine is not a practical or safe process for the average person. Methanol is a naturally occurring byproduct of the fermentation process and is present in all alcoholic beverages to some extent

Whoa Buddy!!! I like a lot of your videos but this is not how you make wine from grapes. You need all grapes, no water. Too much water ruins the wine. Only add sugar after you’ve tested your ABV and you’re deficient. Wine grapes are sweeter than table grapes. Only add Acid if your ph is above 3.6. Approx. 15 lbs of grapes per gallon of wine. Sorry to be such a downer but grape wine is much different than fruit wine. I have turned 100’s of pounds of grapes into quality wine. Freezing the grapes is a good idea. It helps break them down.
@HowToDoneRight
@HowToDoneRight 9 ай бұрын
Your completely wrong on this... this wine is incredible. Don't listen to the old timers saying you don't need sugar... remember.. we are chunking these grapes not pressing and pulverizing so there is a slow release of Sugar so we need to add some. Don't knock this until you have tried this. Trust me... I'm a professional. Lol.
