How to make Yakisugi（Burnt cedar）

This time, we did DIY the exterior wall of our new home.
Burnt cedar is used for the exterior walls.
Yakisugi is a traditional Japanese method of wood preservation. By slightly charring the surface of cedar wood without combusting the whole plank, the wood becomes water-proof through the carbonisation and is thus more durable.
