Man they look good!! I would still use the rivnuts though, once they are in you could paint the back side that show black so they don’t stick out

Because the up stairs is a family room and office. A hoist would have just got in my way with the way I build them.

Thanks for the great content Travis! I just bought the gmss heater box cover for my 68'. Was wondering if you have a link to the black bolts you used? I plan on using the self tappers and then the black bolts but want to make sure I get the right size to avoid using the rivet nut.

Thanks so much. The frames are exactly the same so everything besides the fenders would work. Doing the 60 next then maybe a square. GMSS is working on inner fender panels for the 67-72 though!

Great video! Are you running manual brakes? If so, how is the pedal feel? Im currently running a booster setup on my 72 but it sticks out so much. Its also very tight to my inner fender. I’ve been looking for a solution to bring it back to the firewall and contemplated removing the booster all together.

I don’t run boosters on anything anymore. With a 15/16 bore size the pedal feels great. I love it.

man mounting those using self tappers is risky... without messing up the finish... you should just hold you panel in place... mark you mounting holes... then 1/8 inch pre drill your holes...

The self tap acts like the 1/8 pre drill holes. I take out all the self tapers and replace them with actual bolts. The self tapers are needed to help form the metal to get it all secure while making your holes. You couldn’t just hold the piece up there and mark or your holes would be off. That’s the method that has worked great for me in the past. It’s hard to mark and drill all the holes and have it all line up correctly after. The self tapers are also smaller than the head of the hardware used so if it scraped a little it would be hidden. This is only one of the many ways you can do this but I like the self tapers because it marks the hole and secures the piece while you replace each bolt one by one and every thing stays perfectly lined up. By all means do what works for you.
