Just discovered your channel of upgrading your Squier and I’ve just been watching your videos since. Subbed! Great stuff! This seems really cool to make.

Nice work dude but just to add that this approach only works if you have an effects loop if you have a vintage valve amp you will need a thing called a power soak which is essentially a massive pot. Still simple to build for £50 or so

Is it still working fine? This logarithmic potentiometer is 25K or 100K? What thickness of cable did you use? Greetings from the Polish Coast.

Potenciometer is 100K

Hi! Great video! Works on transitorized amps with effects loop??

I use a A 25k (logaritimic) potentiometer. Works well

Very nice! Does this work if you don't have a effects loop?

Brilliant! But doesn’t it still render the effects loop useless.

In this form it can daisy chain to other pedals, which you can't with the doctor Watson, unless you bought some male->female cables. But then your spending the same money as the black box anyway :)

Obviously it's not the same as an attenuator, but more like master volume. So no taming the power tubes. Still a great cheap choice for lowering the volume on a tube amp and still keep the sweet sound.

Nice vídeo! With the 100k audio pot You have a broader volume Range or viceversa?

Can you still get power tube saturation?

No

You need to get your volume control up quite a bit in order to get the main power tubes working. A power attenuator between the head and the speakers is really the only way to accomplish that and still have a manageable sound level. This mod does allow some volume control increase but it's not really enough to get the power tubes really working you are mostly hearing the preamp tubes being driven. It's better than nothing but cranking the volume control with an attenuator provides a dramatic tonal difference.

Hi Wilson, i have a little qq, I hope you could help me. If I want to add some delay or modulation to the loop. Is the signal chain "Atenuator the delay? Or Delay first? Thanks for this tip! Is really helpful!!!! Best! Martin, from Argentina!
@ha-jd7wl3 жыл бұрын
Delay first.. Put the attenuator last so it will control the volume for everything. Honestly either way will probably have the same effect as long as the volume pedal/attenuator is after the preamp and any modulation/distortion effects.

Damn I wish I could solder. But it's never gonna happen. Arthritis and my hands shake.
