Try filling the bottom of the Y with rocks up to the bottom of the feed opening. It still allows the water to drain but it keeps the bottom from filling with corn that can’t get out that mildews and spoils.

Its crazy how much cheaper this is vs. buying a ready made one from Bass Pro. Is there an optimal height that I should place the feeder section off the ground for deer to comfortably eat from?

There are some cheap store bought feeders out there but they are all terrible in my experience. On a budget this is the way to go for sure. I place my feeders on a tree where the the opening with the corn is about 2 feet off the ground but anywhere around there should be perfect. Thanks for watching

This is a bad design. Mold gives animals wisteria. Eliminate the 45 degree up. Put the pipe on a gutter discharge splash block w a notch cut out of pipe to allow corn to flow out of pipe. Water will not enter pipe because it's pitched away. We also use 6 inch pipe because you can fit a full 50 lbs bag of grain. With cwd, it may be better to use a spreader because deer aren't putting their faces in the same spot as all other deer. Like your channel keep posting.
