This may be hard to believ for some but I actually can't by jelly rolls in the Philippines, quilting isn't a common hobby here, I'm so glad that I can make it at home with just some time and effort

Every time I buy yardage, I get extra, and cut four 2.5" strip's, building my own strip stash. So easy. Also cut four 10" squares. I am buying colours i like so know i like the fabric, and just over half yard extra. Or half metre in Australia. Worth it to build own precuts. Tfs,hugs, Chel 🌸

I am a brand new quilter, and I have this crazy idea- i want to make Log Cabin quilts for my children - all SIX of them- for Christmas.... I am studying different tutorials which have made this feat "seem" completely doable..... then I started calculating hay how many Jellyrolls I would need to make them- YIKES!!!! and then YOU popped up! Bless you bless you! This l making my own strips also means I can pitch my own fabric colors! I plan to record the process and will refer to you and THIS video with gratitude for making this project affordable. I won't post until after i have given them to our children, so don't hold your breath! Lol Momma Gayle Thank you thank you in advance!!!!

One of the best rulers for this type of job is the Creative Grids Stripology ruler. This ruler is an investment, but it is worth every penny. Stack and whack your fabrics with no loss in precision and save about 2/3rds of cutting time.

Jan. 4, 2024. Oh so pretty! But come on Kris, throw some non traditional blue in there! Oooohhh sparkley! So yesterday I went to one of our local stores that had a sale on clear plastic containers that were 8qt size. Just perfect for jelly rolls and other select cuts of scraps so I wouldn't have to use plastic bags. $0.99 each. Great. They were out of them. Someone bought 50 of them the day before. 😮😮😮😮I told the clerk at check out that at least I only bought two bags of on sale Christmas candy. Marion

Recently I have started cutting down much of my fabric to make my own pre-cuts. Anything I bought for a project is going in a bag per project. The rest i am cutting 10x10, 9x9 (so I can get two from a fat quarter and accommodate stuff I wanted to make 10x10 out of but was short.) Also I am doing 5x5, 4.5x4.5 (because I found a huge stack in black I cut for a project and it had been waayy to many) 2.5x2.5, 2.5x5, 1.5x5 and 1.5x2.5. I am keeping them organized in large bags as I cut it all up. I seem to have mostly 5x5 and 2.5x2.5 so I am stacking them by color. Keeping them in sandwich bags.

I have tried this, how do you avoid getting that litte "v" at the folds.. I just cant get a straight cut if my fabric is folded. Any tips ??
@SewtheDistance
@SewtheDistance Жыл бұрын
Hi Shelley! Great question. This is an issue with a lot of people. The V usually happens when the fabric isn't folded correctly, usually when it comes off the bolt. The best way to make sure this doesn't happen is to open up the fabric completely, press it really well, and refold it correctly. I hope this helps!

True! Although I think it is what happens with the lower quality fabrics. Some people say it happens with higher quality, too, although I haven't experienced it. As someone with a master's degree in linguists, I recognize not all dialects and regions are the same; hence, pronunciations of many words are different depending on each individual's sound house. This is okay. This is expected. This is acceptable. This is one of many things that make us unique. Thank you for pointing out our wonderfully delightful differences! ❤️ Love to you.
