Can you make, or have you already made, a video on how to build the winder? I don't want to pay the insane prices for the premade ones.

This is exactly what I've been looking for, thank you! I'm making my pickups from scratch, meaning all the parts aside from the wire I'll have to order and the pole pieces and brass plate I grabbed at the hardware store. The magnet came off the fridge, but I'm convinced it came from a pickup. No harm in playing around and for some reason I do love soldering :) I mean, if you're going to build a guitar primarily of stuff you have lying around... Fantastic video in every way!

The original Gibson winders used felt as tensioners. I could see that being an easy alteration to your system instead of running through your fingers. Maybe some kind of spring-loaded back-and-forth bar where your hand held the wire.

Looks like fun Dave. I told myself a long time ago that I wouldn't get into winding pups. Because after all how many things do we as guitar makers already have to be really good at? But it does look like fun. Nice work buddy.

Thanks Dane! Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it.

Great video. When you are winding, do you have the spool of wire on some kind of spindle on the floor or something?

Hi, could you maybe give us a parts list for the machine? I was also considering buying or building, but doing the research was a bit of a hassle for me.

If I remove 4 poles and replace it with plastic ones, will the pickup just absorb the tone from the strings relative to the remaining 2 poles? Thanks in advance for the answer. :)

How many humbuckers do you get out of a 1lb roll of wire???? Great video, Thank you. B

I think the rolls I buy are 1/2 lbs. I don’t think I ever kept track of how many humbuckers I get out of a roll but I’m thinking around 6 or 7

A little flour on your fingers really helps the process if your hands get a little clammy especially if it’s your first time and you are getting a little sweaty 🥵

So one is south up and one north up which would give you a humbucker in the middle position ,is that right?
@eworcustomguitars2 жыл бұрын
Yes that is correct. I cancels out the 60cycle hum

No schematic on how you built the winder? I'm sure there were more people who were interested, and hell...you could even sell the schematic like other people are doing for $1.00 each download if you wanted, and buy some coffee.
