Sony should simply render a 3D scene with objects and text placed at different distances, then allow users to experience said scene at different IPD values, allowing them to then choose the setting the users feel is the best/sharpest. I don't get it why they didn't do it that way instead of the clumsy eye camera measuring mess..

Topic suggestion: There's a whole bunch of older games that has had VR added to it to some extent, but the Playstation Store makes it impossible to find since they're not marked as VR. A list of those would be nice. Trackmania Turbo has a whole bunch of levels just for VR. 'Race the Sun' did not support it initially but does now. I'm sure I'm missing a heap of them.
@FrankWasTaken5 жыл бұрын
You got it dude!
@ndrinks55505 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this, I initially did it using the camera shots but when I actually measured the distance it was way off. Definitely improves the feeling of the objects and environments being the "right" size.

Hi, Frank, thank you sooooooo much for this tutorial! I gladly subscribe. One question please. I'm just a newbie to VR. I'm playing the Inpatient, and the picture still has flicker and slight blurriness and due to that nowhere as clear as I see it on my HDTV. Should I continue looking for better Eye-to-Eye Distance? Or is the picture is supposed to be that way? Thank you!
@Mumu04514 жыл бұрын

@Elektron10004 жыл бұрын
I don't see how changing the distance between the eyes can affects the optics of the set. In my case, I get the best image sharpness by pressing the set about 4mm in my face with the head strap tightened. Changing the distance between the eyeballs only changes the area of the image that the console software will blur to create the impression of a deeper image . The only solution to the problem of the lack of sharpness of the image is the use of adjustable optics as in traditional binoculars, but it seems that due to the costs SONY decided to use fixed focal length optics as if everyone in the world had the same eyesight.

The one focus fits all design of the PSVR is its single greatest design flaw. Even after doing all these steps, at best you'll get an image that's "more in focus than not." The next generation PSVR absolutely, positively has to have individual focus adjustment diopters for each eye.

Hey Frank your videos are great! You have helped with PSVR headset tracking, you have helped with PSVR headset image. Can you go over the move controllers? I have noticed on Beat Saber one controller does not "feel" in line with the light saber. Also, I have noticed my left arm in Creed tends to stretch and wobble sometimes. Not sure if that is a game or a controller issue but, if there is a way to test or calibrate the move controller, you are my go to guy!Thanks again for the channel.

Hey Frankie, why not just use the Measure Eye-to-Eye Distance feature itself by going up to the camera and having it measure for you instead?
@sirseags5 жыл бұрын
Pedro dos Santos because if you set it up in the first place and it was bad then you may need to do a manual adjustment. That’s why this video is here.
@pedrofmbs5 жыл бұрын
@@sirseags I appreciate the reply though even though the question was directed at Frank. Regardless, that doesn't address my question, you can easily go back and set it up again and again. I'm just looking to know Frank's opinion on why using this "analog approach" (using a ruler, etc) is better than the "automated approach" of using the PS Camera and the Measure Eye-to-Eye Distance feature.
@GabrielLima-kx5cp5 жыл бұрын
@@pedrofmbs The PS Cameras Measure-to-Eye Distance is awful. Try it. You might get different results every time, depending on how lighting, how far your head is from the camera etc. Also, if you KNOW your IPD (from a proper glasses prescription for instance), you can simply use the chart to ensure submitting that EXACT value in the PSVR.
@pedrofmbs5 жыл бұрын
@@GabrielLima-kx5cp I'll def try it out, I've used it twice (making sure I used the same distance between my eyes and camera on both occasions) and I believe I always got the same, but I just might be misremembering it. Thanks.
@milospolakovic21655 жыл бұрын
I get the same consistent results using the automated feature as well, the trick is to measure distance of your head to camera and make sure it's 2ft. exactly each time, this analog method only confirmed that it had been set up correctly the first time. No need to bother with this.

There's a game called "The Solus Project". It's kind of a walking Sim, but it has a mix of smooth movement and teleportation. Just use Tele when running and smooth for shorter movements.
