And today if you wanted parts like that you’d need a CNC lathe because no one is learning the trade anymore. Just look at everything in this entire world that was done without big expensive machines and tooling back in the day. I applaud his talent. Wish the world had more like him. So do you weld screws on to screws on your lathe too? Half of that tool is great - the reciprocating mechanism and the cutter through gear-bore is definitely a neat method to make it work, but look a bit closer and there is quite a bit of welded up mess. Oh keep stick welders away from my lathe. Look, I think the ingenuity is fantastic and the fact he's using what he has to get it done is awesome, but I was taught to look at a man's machine to see the quality of his work. Overall sentiment I definitely agree with.

As a lathe operator, I don't know why he makes the whole thing so complicated. You can also simply turn a thread with a large pitch and have the same effect. The whole thing is done as a left and then as a right thread. This can be done on any conventional lathe. We manufacture on conventional as well as on NC and CNC lathes.
@strobo24 Жыл бұрын
Not all machine gearboxes are supporting large threads and what is he doing is not a thread. Any way, not a typical one. Can't you see that the thread he makes it is variating the pitch from 1 × 1/n to -1 × 1/n on a sinus function, and no backlashes? Agreed that he could do much more simple, tidy and he more likely he doesn't have meanings of he's doing.... but that is India. Between the sparks and chaos you have happy accidents! 😊

@@clutch5sp989I have watched these guys a long time. It seems that there simply is no infrastructure to support advancement. They simply don’t have things we take for granted. No OSHA nor trade fundamentals. Their truck repair/rebuilding is amazing to me. They do free forge things very well using all recycled steel of surly unknown type. I have a forgoing room in my shop and knowing what steel you are forging is pretty important. Most metals come from ship breaking. Big pieces of chain, propeller shafts, and a lot of RR rail. In my view - tho my impressions are probably lacking - they simply make do with what they have. In that arena, they are actually masters. Life there is clearly cheaper than what we further take for granted. Want proper clothing, gloves, and safety glasses? Where do you get them? How do you afford them? The pay is low and someone else is ready to take your place. But someone developed the idea for a shop to make wheelbarrows, wrenches, stoves, or straighten truck frames we would scrap. That person is living off of their grimy effort. Want to see impressive work? Start searching out Russian truck repair, forging, welding, and machine work. Those guys rock.
