I enjoy your videos so much & learn so much! I have 500 broilers now - 200 at 5 weeks (1 week to go) & 300 at 1 week (5 weeks to go). We're in rural Southeast Ohio, USA. Right now our younger birds still thrive with some heat lamps adjusted throughout day & night, but our older birds need no heat lamps & are trying to cope with warm days. Our temps are measured in Fahrenheit, & I don't know the conversion to Celsius well, but it's about 80°F in our late May afternoons. Here, we know our older meat birds (4-6 weeks) would prefer to be 68°F ideally. We do most of the things you showed us to manage for heat for the birds. I have never thought of just spraying or misting the birds, though. I have taken birds individually & set them in cool water with just their feet & underbelly touching the water, but I really didn't think of just misting the birds; I will consider this....our floor is limestone screenings at the bottom with deep litter over it that is mainly pine shavings....I guess I didn't think of directly misting them because of concern about soaking the floor, but maybe if we just mist them every couple of hours without letting it soak the pen, that might work here, too, to help us! Thank you! We do make "big ice cubes" by filling emptied milk jugs halfway with water & floating that in their waterers....because we're using big top-fill waterers. We also avoid them feeding in the hot part of the day like you advise, & we keep lights on all overnight to encourage them to eat when it's cooler. I am learning so much from your videos. Thank you for the time & effort you take to make them. Many blessings!

March 1st I lost 8 4weeks birds so on the 2nd which was yesterday I introduced chilled water since then there has not been any record of mortality. Above all this video added to my knowledge of combating heat stress in broilers production. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thank you as always. I noticed that you feed your broiler only super starter and finisher on the final week. What about grower? Please your clarification will be helpful and appreciate
@farmsdiary
@farmsdiary Жыл бұрын
From the best of my knowledge and what I've practiced so far about grower feed is, I only feed it to pullets (because it has higher fibre content, aids better development of their digestive tract and improves their appetite) from when they are weighing an average of 780g (0.78kg), presumably their 9th week, to when they weigh 1410g (1.41kg), presumably their 17th week... I've never given it to broilers before. My broilers only eat starters and finishers, at times, only starter.

Also. I read somewhere that birds do not have sweat glands. That's is to say they can't remove sweat from their body, at the hot hours of the day, between 1-4 we are advised to take out all water, because it has even more negative effect, the water gets heated in their body, and since there is no way to sweat it out, they die from the heat
@farmsdiary
@farmsdiary Жыл бұрын
Yea, they don't have sweat gland, but if you remove water from them during heat period, many of them will give up and die oo But its advicable to remove feed

Apologies, I've not had the chance to shoot the video, but Kindly go through this playlist, from day 1 - 20, I stated the daily temperature needed for the birds as they grow kzbin.info/aero/PLs-uUuOMZOfAwBHXxQuecwu1nBY0C661b From the 20th day and above, with a good ventilation, the birds can comfortably control the temperatures the self.

There might be few scammers, but the rest are legit, trust me And also depends on where you are located. So far, I've only used 2 suppliers that didn't disappoint me. One in Enugu and one in Abuja. I can only recommend people I've personally used their service before. Is your farm within abuja or Enugu? So I can link you up directly from suppliers I get mine from.
