How To Manage Rust On Hollyhocks

Rust can be a real problem on Hollyhocks and this year following a mild damp winter and spring it looks more advanced than usual. Time to debulk the infected leaves and reduce the rate of spread to the healthy new growth.

Should you use seeds from a plant that had a rust infection?

They will be fine the rust is not transmitted through the seeds to the plant as far a we are aware . I Although your question had given me a good idea 💡 . Maybe we should selectively collect seed from plants that are less susceptible to rust in the future.

I planted tons of hollyhocks and they all got destroyed by rust before I could I get to it. Are similar plants like lupine and delphinium as easily susceptible to stuff like this or is this a uniquely hollyhock thing
