3:08 Most people think money has one job which is to spend. Money has 4 functions Spend, Save, Invest, Donate - Into from the book Richest man in Babylon 4:51 There are 5 buckets for storing or utilising money 7:27 5 buckets : 1) Necessity 60% food, travel expenses, housing, bills and basics such as clothes etc 2) Emergency 10% such as health recovery, funeral expenses etc. Never ever dip into this unless it is absolutely necessary and no other means. It's all about mindset, you have money at all times, rich mindset not a poor mindset. 3) Investment 10% future, retirement. 4) Learning bucket 10% upgrade skills = increase in salary or job opportunities. 5) Fun 10%

6:14 It didn't hit me until he said " When you have cash, it attracts more cash." that I noticed the exact same thing. For months I've had a blank envelope sitting on my desk loaded with a few hundred dollars worth of $5 bills. I have no idea why I started doing it, but whenever it is on my desk the pile grows. When I put it in my desk drawer it stayed there for a few weeks and I didn't add anything to it because I forgot about it. Now that it is on my desk again I keep finding myself adding to it. Cash does accumulate more cash.

I really enjoyed this perspective on the percentage breakdown of money management. The learning bucket is one aspect I personally had completely overlooked but will be sure to include in future budgeting plans. The tiered percentages based on income level was also a great insight. It not only helps keep on track for investments but also keeps expenses down to earth as percentages shift. I also had a question for you, what would be the recommended donation percentage?

I have a question about investment, my husband and I both have life insurances (with investment/mutual funds as a "rider") - does that count as an investment? Another question, do you have any suggestions on how we can or where we can invest more? You're talking about stocks and bonds, but we're not in USA, and I'm not even sure how that looks like here in the Philippines. Thanks and more power to you!

Seifu, Thank you for your videos, advice, and inspiration. I have digged myself out of debt by renting out my real estate and teaming up with my production friends to pursue passive income. I am a musician of 15 years with a production background, but I scarified my finances for a relationship that ended up failing. I am now pursuing my dreams and paying myself first through the 60/20/10/10 budgeting model, and the difference is amazing. Pursuit happiness and the law of attraction. It's amazing how the missing pieces fill themselves in. This advice is golden. I studied economics during my college years, and Dan's videos are very clear if you follow the series. Very valuable lessons that are avalaible for everyone when they need it. This is a real business education. Thank you Dan!

Hi Dan, I'm Julio from Philippines and I just bumped in with one of your best mentees, Emmanuel Cabrera. I'm in the best Real Estate Industry here in my country and I do experience a lot of what you are sharing about failure stuffs. It's really like a roller coaster ride and sometimes it feels sad and depressing. I met Emmanuel in our showroom (Alveo-Ayalaland) last week. It all went great and the talk just got more deeper when he showed me things that he's one of your mentees. I just cried out of nowhere in front of him because I'm following you for years and I couldn't imagine that I can meet a guy like him. I knew that day will be special for me and yes it did when he drop by in our showroom. Watching your videos are really great because we can apply it in ourselves but hearing it in a one on one conversation is really different and more exciting. I just wish that I can digest all the things that I've watched through your videos and the learnings that I've got from Emmanuel. I'm really serious on what am I doing and failure will not be an excuse for me to quit no matter how much "No" will I receive to have an "Yes".

Cool video but my finances are in total mess, a lot of debts that I need to pay. I feel so bad that this year is ending without me making anything out of it and I don’t want my parents to suffer when I’m supposed to be taking care of them. I have saved a couple of thousands and I want to invest it to create extra means of income but the problem now is I don’t know where to put in the money. Please someone should save my ass, I need some advices. And if possible best investment to create passive income with. Thank you

Better a different bank for some of the buckets. You could ask your bank to lock the account with just entry.
