I was looking into getting plushes made of my designs and I’ve read that you need to do things like toy safety testing and registering with different agencies and it’s all so confusing. Hey! so, as long as the plush doesn't have plastic parts like a nose or eyes it should be fine. I believe the factories would do those testings regardless. But as long as you're selling to your own audience and not in major toy stores, I wouldn't worry about it :)

Your video was so helpful! I just released a book on Amazon (Lucky the Green Cat), so I followed your process to make a plush book character. Did you submit a tax-exempt certificate or just pay the tax?

So happy this was helpful I’m so excited for you! I just recently released a cat plushie too! So, I personally didn’t submit a tax exemption, but the only reason is because i don’t know enough about it so i just err on the safe side. That’s not to say it wouldn’t be wise to do so though! Id have to look into it more honestly 😅 I’d say it depends on how you do your taxes and how you sell them

I tried to get some plushies made by these manufacturers but the sample looks terrible. Had them redo it and they barley changed it. They were very hard to talk to most of the things I asked them to modify they were confused. I ended up getting a refund and only getting 60$ out of the 160$ I paid for the sample

$100 for a sample. A sample is what they create before production to figure out the best way to create the plush. then after the sample is approved, mass production starts and each piece could come out to as low as just a few dollars each. I don't recommend doing this if you only want one
