How to Map a Printer - Find a Printer IP Address - LOCAL/NETWORK - #1 Way Pro's Won't Tell You

Ever wonder how to map your printer after tireless hours of dealing with tech support? NO MORE! Here's my #1 way to map a printer by it's IP address. (CLICK SHOW MORE FOR ALL STEPS WRITTEN OUT)

Step 1, type: CMD
Step 2, type: IPCONFIG
Step 3, type: PING (IPV4address number here no brackets)
Step 4, type: ARP -A
Step 5: Open your web browser and input all DYNAMIC TYPE IP's ONLY
Step 6: Type in all the dynamic IP's ONLY until your printer page populates
Step 7, once you have the correct number, open cmd prompt back up and type: CONTROL PRINTERS
Step 8: Click "Add a printer," or right click and click "Add a printer"
Step 9: Click "Add a Local printer"
Step 10: Select the box "Create a new port" then under "Type of Port:" move it to Standard TCP/IP Port and click next
Step 11: Type in the Port we found for our printer from the dynamic addresses and hit Next
Step 12: Install selected driver and hit next
Step 13: Name it whatever you want and hit next
Step 14: Sharing it is up to you! Then hit next
Step 15: Print a test page and you're all set!

Unfortunately, a win 10 upgrade to my network PC with the printer hosed my network and none of my other pc's can print to it. Thanks for the good video. Losing my printer was annoying and hope this stays unchanged by microsoft. I did figure the dynamic numbers to try were mine and 3rd number worked. Good when you see what you said. I did select 'apply' and 'ok'. There are two choices to ADD PRT & I choose STD Printer which went to the Wizard. GREAT> Tried printing and it is Working !!! Thanks

Oh Man ! You made my day ! Thank you for this fantastic video ! I couldn't find a solution with my printing issue. My old Photosmart 8400 series from HP didn't like Windows 10. Happily a subscriber add your link on a forum (thanks to XBladeRunner on HP Community) and It works ! So if anyone has this same problem : First unplug the USB cable and plug in an Ethernet cable on your printer. I've switched on the printer and followed step by step this video. And it works !!! Yay !!!

Dude.... this is only video that worked for me. All the other vids found my printer name in ports via the devices and printers tab. I already know what it was called! haha... Your video found everything I needed. Thanks... I was frustrated because my phone could connect to my printer yesterday, but quit printing today! No explanations why! Still worked with my laptop... I may have to switch my printer to static IP. Is this a better option?

Hi, thanks for this great way finding the printer ip via terminal (works also on mac/linux with ifconfig)! But if the printer ip changes, you have to do the procedure again -- so you better fix the IP via router or printer setting if possible. :-)

Hi thank for that video very helpful. I have hp printer also and wit software HP Smart printing and scanning works no problem. With the drivers for printer also comes scanning software called hp mfp scanner. IF YOU KNOW THIS ONE YOU MY HERO. In that software when I connect via USB scaner/printer is being recognized no issue. The problem I have if I want to communicate via wireless Software won't regonize scaner/printer. I have try everything maybe you know solution. Thanks in advance

CyberPunk: Q: Sharp mx3500 printer. Vendor worked on it now users can’t print to it. First I pinged it (got ip from users computers) and got reply. Checked printer settings and network configuration gone, blank, they may have reset it. So I re-entered ip,subnet,gateway,dns - had to copy some info from another known working Sharp printer. Rebooted printer. Ping ok. Printers website can see printer. Still won’t print. Cleared que. Same issue. Thoughts ?

I tried this and windows is connecting to the FAX, WS or XPS features on my multi-function canon mx522 printer and they fail to print anything. These devices are not on the right port for wireless printing. I think that the printer driver might not be installed correctly. Do you know if this is right? Or is it something else? May have to reset your printer connection, also, reinstall any drivers from the manufacturers website that is directly related to your printer

You may have relieved a ton of frustration. I have a Kyocera Taskalpha that I couldn't get to ping. when I printed the network info from the printer, it listed a host that I had never heard of. As result, I couldn't get into the back side of this printer to make the adjustments I wanted to. I can't wait to go down to the office and try what you just taught me. I am so hopefull this will work.

Hy. Thanks for the vid. After ip config Under Ethernet Adapter description I have media disconected. As some others have said, your printer may not show up in the arp -a list. Lucky for me, I was able to look it up on the little LCD screen of my HP Photosmart 8450 printer. (Menu-Tools-Network). Hope this helps someone.

I was unable to find my printer IP address for a HP laserjet 4650n. I followed your command prompts and got 4 dynamic addresses. After typing all 4 IP addresses into 4 different browser tabs, I received 3 different messages including 1) "this site can't be reached"; 2) "this page isn't working"; and 3) "readyshare.routerlogin.net - / " which I believe has something to do with my router.
