How to Master a Song with iZotope Ozone | Native Instruments

I am so happy & proud. I've said it... on the old forum: I've mentioned it a few times how NI were all about sound quality and how iZotope was all about _enhancing_ that. I've been using Ozone on my Maschine including Komplete *long* before this joint venture and... this is a match made in audio heaven. Yes, I am a bit of an NI fanboy, fair enough... Live user first and foremost but in addition I have Maschine + Komplete 13UC + Komplete Audio 6. One could argue that my home studio is 'powered by Komplete'. Thing is: I don't necessarily agree with Matt that mastering is the icing on the cake (in many cases you don't really need mastering at all). However... I *do* agree that Ozone can very well be that required icing. I already upgraded to the latest iZotope products and ... Ozone 10 is awesome in itself. ... the only caveat: NI sofware doesn't support Ozone 10 just yet due to VST3 :(

TECHNOLOGY... WOW!!!!!!! If this is all accurate info, this truly changes the game for those who want to master their own productions!! (I have K12 now but will be upgrading to K14 soon as I can, as I want the package next to the top tier one.). EXCELLENT INFO NI!!!!!👊🏾

Excellent tutorial! Ozone is a reasonable balance between ‘1 button solution’ and making decisions on the mastering chain. As a newbie, I’m realizing that part of mastering is having another set of ears involved, other than the musician/creator. I tend to make the mastering sound close to my original mix, because MY mix is part of my artistic expression and it’s personal. So, while Ozone 10 is an amazing tool, it’s hard to objectively master your own songs 😢

IMHO the more you learn/experience mixing the easier you can pin point things wrong with the mix. IE your opinion, or creative genius are not clouding cringe, or overbearing tones. What you've described is being new to mixing, in a nutshell. I say that from a standpoint of always being the student. All the best!

I have Ozone 8 Advance. I think Ozone 10 standard is even better and easier to use. Glad I got the Komplete 14 Ultimate.

Keep in mind that changing the target preset effects changes the presets for the modules as well !

Hey Matt- Great video. Thank you! I must confess that this is new to me so I have a question: I see mention of people using this primarily as a mastering tool but is this also used on individual tracks prior to it being used for mastering? Would someone have several "Ozone 10's" running simultaneously on different tracks and then another one on the stereo out for the mix down, or is it only for mastering on final mix? Any comments on this would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work!

No, this is just for mastering. For individual tracks, it would be smart to use things like the adaptive EQ. But, you wouldn’t necessarily want the maximizer on them.

I have downloaded ozione via native instrument. When I open it in cubase it doesn't work. what could be the reason?

Hi NI, I'm an Ozone 9 Advanced user, acquired from Izotope, installed with the Izotope installation process. Most often, I use Ozone 9 in standalone mode. Also, I have upgraded from K13 to K14. I now have the option to install Ozone 10 standard. I don't want version 10 to overwrite version 9 ? I want both version to co-exist. Can someone confirm it is possible before I install version 10 please ?

Also: keep 9 around if you're using Ozone with NI software because... it doesn't support VST3 just yet.

i own a lot of izotope plugins and just got komplete 14 u ce ive installed ozone 10 but it doesnt register with izotope so i dont get dynamic discounts like i would normally. can ni please look into this so if you already own izoptope products this can be added to your izoptope account as well as you ni

So disappointed with Izotope for getting rid of the standalone version. It's added extra steps that cost me about 20 minutes per track. Total waste of my money. I went back to using version 9. Wish I could get a refund or sell 10.
