i'm new to Storm and the most trouble I think that us new players are having is how to win neutral and play defense, as well as choosing the appropriate assist types for different playstyles, how to use and counter assists, and the benefits of switching characters, and while combos are the easiest thing to learn, there's no point in focusing on them if we can't touch our opponents

When it comes to catching your opponent a lot of mind games come into play. What is your opponent gonna do? How do you counter that? What does your opponent think you’re gonna do? And how can you subvert the opponent’s expectations? Learning this takes experience, so I would honestly start with getting experience and slowly figure out how other people do and how they fight. Get comfortable with using counters as well. Implementing those is huge in Storm C. You get unlimited of them, and they have so much stun. But yeah, experience is a key thing. I struggled so hard online in Storm 4 but the more I played the more I learned about how other people fight, what tricks they use, etc. Even in Connections I struggled in the beginning because I wasn’t used to the play style yet. Took me like 2 hours to get comfortable with the play style. TL;DR be patient, and have fun :)

@@simonjohnson3424 this was pretty vague in terms how exactly you do the things that you described, but it was helpful nonetheless so thanks, however, I think another problem could be that experienced players don't want new players to know these things and would rather have an easier time winning against unseasoned players, so I'll most likely be losing a ton before being able to find counters myself

@@mallysixfour I know it’s vague but contrary to popular belief, there’s a lot to the Storm combat. It’s hard to explain in just a comment about the different things you can do. I’m sure KZbinrs will post more tips for new comers, and some of Poison’s older videos on Storm 4 might still be useful in Storm C. So if you want more in depth stuff you can look at Storm 4 videos or just wait for others to post updated ones. And yeah, there are definitely players who try-hard no matter who they play against. But those try-hards are usually in ranked matches. From my experience player matches are a bit more chill. I hope you don’t get discouraged tho because once all of the combat clicks for you, it’s so rewarding going head-to-head against players who would’ve destroyed you when you first started playing

@@mallysixfour an easy tip I can give you to start out with, if you haven’t already discovered it, is that you can double jump over chakra dashes and a lot of jutsu that just travel along the ground like raikiri, chidori, rasengan etc.

Also, I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, but wit the addition of the "Proficiency Chart..." That's gonna give this game a MUCH longer shelf life to 100%. It'll also open players' eyes to try other characters that they usually don't use in past games. You never kno, wit over 150 characters to level up, players may find a new main or 2, or 3, or more! Lol

if you can't convert out of your air combo with certain characters, you can use jutsus that hit grounded and make your combo that way as well (eg akatsuki sasuke)

In terms of combos, I guess that's the basics, you can also use jutsu such as Delta's 1st jutsu, Baryon Mode massive rasengan and Minato's Raijin Lv2 to pick up grounded opponents

Poison at some point u should test out jutsu buffering in a video FYI shisui has the fastest Chakra Regen and the least amount of Chakra used for the buffer in the game from wat I can tell...using his halo dance it's really broken lol

the game is fun. i like it. and you don.t even have to be a competitive player to beat cpus on super hard. im a casral player and im able to get a S rank on cpu on super hard. fighting humen players tho is a diffrent story. when i go online in rank battle i got destoryed. im gonna try to play competitive.just gonna need to train a lot. so right now i been playing lot of online battles and im haveing fun. sometimes i,ll own or somethings its a close match or sometimes i,ll get owned. im learnng a lot fighting online.

@Poison But they say "this is Storm 4 DLC" LMAO 🤣 This honestly feels like a brand new game. Some similarities obv, but wit EVERY character getting an update & the combat getting a semi-overhaul + the addition of Simple controls... Tbh bro, this is the biggest change made to combat since they introduced the KnJ bar in Generations! (Also the chakra dash cancels too) These "in-between/0.5" games really be the ones that level up the combat in some awesome way each time!

Or do you hit the L button in the specific direction simultaneously as the circle button? The game does not make it clear as to whether it is up/down + Circle, or up/down and then circle.

Another thing to consider when picking a team is how viable your characters are as supports. Koji and Indra for example, I've found to be very powerful supports because their jutsu can easily interrupt the opponent if you're being comboed with no subs

Well, you showed us that infinites are *possible* and I appreciate that, I really do. Just one problem: you never told us *how* to do them? How are you interrupting the combo without resetting the hit counter? I feel like I've tried everything but every button which can interrupt the combo also resets the hit counter. Even pausing between button presses doesn't work on that version of Naruto. I'm only missing one bonus objective on History mode but it requires me to get a 30 hit combo in the Naruto/Sasuke fight at the end and I can't figure out how.

"Hollow step" used to be called "Ghost stepping" back in the storm 2, storm 3 and generations days. Man I miss those days. Now the Naruto games are just about your supports and subbing now more then anything else. Really if they just add more time from which a support can come back and help you, also with subs or just make the subs like storm 2 was. It would really make you strategize more on how and when you use your sub or support. I'd say just revert the subs and support back to storm 2 and make the game less dumbed down, like it took skill to be able to sub out of stuff.

Kaguya no longer stuns via countering. She can still stun by back chakra dashing then leader switching to another character to continue the combo.

@PoisonedOkami hmmm, there was some type of super broken exploit that locked players in place for up to three seconds with her basic combo even if she stopped attacking. Another player used it on me in Storm 4 a lot. I think it's gone, though. I don't believe it involved dashing or countering.
