I've just been to Boracay Island and had a chance to dive! Then your lecture is so good for me and remind the technics again. I really appreciate to you. !

Hi Thomas, as I wrote before, I can’t do the turn with my legs so I have to use my hands and with palmate gloves it is very effective. I always dive with them since I learned it is almost impossible for me to do the turn with one leg only, I have motion issues to my right leg which is less powerful than the other and I have often to use my right hand to correct direction on surface [as for in Dive Master exercise] and rotation underwater. I really prefer to use the hands, there is an SNSI video which explains that in cases like mine. But I always learn from your videos and you are right to underline that in case of impairment it is perfectly fine to use hands. In the recent PADI Instructor manual it is allowed to use hands for divers with legs impairments, as you surely know. I am still trying to better my buoyancy and trim since I am doing my Rescue course now but I really aim to the Dive Master next year so I am already exercising for that :-) Thanks for all you content. If you watch my two last videos here you can see something I do underwater :))

Hey Alex! Thanks for sharing, and yes of course in some situations hands are required and I think that’s obviously fine! Good luck on your DM training next year!

my instructor taught me this in one of the sessions and greatly it helped me in efficient maneuvering.

You look solid! I probably use the helicopter turn more than any other finning technique. I tend to dive super slow and stay in one place (if it is allowed) most of the time so helicopter turns allow me to maneuver around whatever I'm hovering over. I use the frog kick for forward movement of course, but it's very small as I don't need that much propulsion. Especially in cave diving, we are turning corners all the time so helicopter turns are essential. Maybe do a video on back finning as that's often overlooked?

Thanks! Backfinning is an area I’m ok at but definitely need more work. I started a video but really need more practice with it myself.

👍🤿😎🇵🇭! Very nicely put! Unless I am frequently diving I have to practice the helicopter kick!

@@CircleHScuba 😎! Great to get back to your videos! I have been preoccupied with work lately that I have begun to hate the company I am with which was once a good company but now has turned to sh@$” if you know what I mean! I think I just need to go back to basics and scuba dive and enjoy life! Always looking forward to your videos! I love the way you present your content! Don’t stop 👍😎🤿🇵🇭!!!!

Funny, I learned it by myself without knowing the name of this kick 🙂 . To be honest, because of my other hobby Photography, With (underwater) Photography I need a good composition near to my subject. My hands are busy with the camera, so my feet has to do the job. Later I found out that I was mastering the helicopter turn. Now I learn this kick to other divers to let them close a plastic barrel (filled with weights) by turning the lid on it.

Thats a great technique to teach it and practice! Love that!

Never realised 1. There’s a one legged variant for the turns/helicopter 2. The usual two legged one has the other leg backfinning - I usually think of it as slicing Lots to try on the next dive!

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Only time I use my hands is when I'm trying not to kick something or backing away from something quickly because my back finning needs work 🥴
@CircleHScuba8 ай бұрын
My back finning is getting there but it needs some work too. Especially in a dry suit. I have a video on back finning coming sometime this summer probably but I need to work on mine more before posting tips haha.

Using hands wastes gobs of gas!

It doesn't look like a very effective turn. Could you make a video showing any more effective (quicker turn) techniques? Thanks
@CircleHScuba8 ай бұрын
It’s probably known as the most effective and efficient turn in diving 😅 Why do you need to turn fast? Also for a demonstration I’m going slow. You can make it a bit faster but you never really need some fast turn while diving, it’s not a race 😋
@CircleHScuba8 ай бұрын
Agreed. Shouldn’t need to be fast at all, slow and efficient is the way to go
@aliasincognito06 ай бұрын
Haha quicker is actually the least effective method of turning. It should be smooth and controlled, not erratic and with you hands.
