In this clip, I show you how to measure and cut drywall for an existing electrical outlet. Ideally you would just remove the switch/outlet and reinstall it after the drywall but if you are someone who wants nothing to do with electrical, this video is for you! I might be wrong, but ideally the plaster ears (the round metal flaps on the edges of the switch) should rest on top of the drywall surface. You'd have to remove the switch mounting screws, pull out and tilt the switch forward to make space for the opening in the drywall, install the drywall and the reinstall the switch.

Yes! You are not wrong. That is ideal but the intention of this video is for people who really don't want to touch any electrical. It will work, hopefully the box was installed so the switch does not need the ears otherwise the cover for the switch may end up with a dip in the middle as it is tightened. 👍

Excellent - you make everything look so easy. Sharing all your years of experience is so helpful to someone like myself. I can't do the work, but when I hire someone, I certainly know how they're supposed to be doing the job. Thank you very much.
