How to Measure Motorcycle Jacket Size
www.revzilla.co...
In this How To video, we show you how to correctly take your measurements for purchasing a motorcycle jacket online. One of the toughest thing about buying a product without being able to try it on is how to determine proper fit. The video demonstrates how to properly take chest, sleeve and waist measurements to compare to a manufacturers size chart. To take a chest measurement, use a flexible tailors tape measure, and if possible, enlist the help from a friend. Nearly all motorcycle manufacturers use a chest measurement to determine size, so getting this measurement right is a great place to start. Sleeve measurements can come in two flavors: tip of shoulder to wrist or back of neck to wrist. When sleeve measurements are around the 30" mark, it typically means a neck to wrist measurement. When sleeve measurements are around the 20" mark, it typically means a shoulder to wrist measurement. When in doubt on sizing, we have a large staff of Gear Geeks that can address your questions and our flexible return policy takes some of the "scariness" of shopping online out of the equation.

Just purchased my very first Dainese Leather Jacket, and I could not be more please. I considered several before choosing the Ducati branded G.Hyper also known as the Hi-Tech. One thing you cannot experience in a video is the wonderful smell of the conditioned leather which combined with the quality, fit and feel make you appreciate spending the extra money on such a fine Italian creation.

Sorry to hear about your spill but happy to hear you didn't get injured. I suggest giving our Gear Geeks a call to go over your options. You have a lot of choices in that price range. For track riding, you will need to find a leather jacket / pant combo that zips together. The Icon Overlord Prime isn't the best option for track, as the pants are boot cut and lack kneesliders. Alpinestars has several options that work great from street to track. ~Ali

I'm about your size and wear size 50 in most Euro jackets. If you can find a 48 that fits in the sleeves, that might be a better bet. I'm 6'4", so size 48 is pretty much always too short for me. -CK
@Vara91391
@Vara91391 5 жыл бұрын
Dear Americans. If you want to look as good as we Euros in our Euro Jackets, then just know that they are tighter, so don't do the mistake to buy it too big, because then elbow protection for instance is too far down and does not protect you. Remember, most EU Motorcycle Jackets are styled/designed and many even made in Italy, where bike fashion is just as important as riding your bike. So basically, sit on a chair or on your bike, get your arms in the position to hold the handlebar, feel your elbow protection with one hand while arm is stretched holding the bar. If the elbow protection is at the right place and if your neck isn't being squashed (feeling snug), then you are fine IF you do not have too much pressure on your shoulders. So here it is: 1. Elbow protection in elbow position with stretched arms 2. Jacket not tight on neck 3. Not too much pressure on shoulders (a tiny bit of pressure is fine if you have shoulder armor). Congratulations, you are now a bit more European, Make Europe Great again !

Absolutely brilliant guide mate! Thanks for the extremely useful information Anthony! In particular that sleeve measurements in the 20s are taken from the point of the shoulder while those in the 30s are taken from the bottom of the neck, centre of the spine. I’m buying a Brando style classic jacket online and this will be a great help. Thanks too for the unintentional laugh. When you talk about having such broad shoulders, the look Peter gives you is hilarious! (6:58)

Choosing the correct size is everything. For example, the guy who talks really fast made a comment in the Delta Pro C2 video about waist size, saying a persons size in jeans may not be the same as in Dainese leather pants, This is very Important. I like my T-Shirts to be size Large, which is typically a 42. However when it comes to racing leathers they need to fit snug. So if your chest measurement is a 40, then buy the correct size. I do NOT recommend buying a slightly larger size because you feel you need room to move, you might regret it as these are Leather Jackets designed for Motorcycle riding, and not for show. They need to fit snug and will conform to your body over time. so I suggest always start with a snug fit. As recommended in this video.

Hey Antony what's up i recently took a 80 mph spill and i was wearing the Overlord Prime Hero jacket and pants. The crash shredded both but saved my butt and i came out of it without a scratch. I'm looking for replacement gear what do you recommend for me? I do a lot of aggressive street riding and a few track days. I'm also looking for something that's similar to the overlord prime hero that is a 2piece but can be made to a one piece for track days. Lastly i'm looking to spend $1000-$2000-max.

I have recently ordered a custom sized jacket by damen leathers (make dutch police suits), i had on one of there normal jackets that was not exactly suited for me, main problem was super tight around the upper arms. I also found out that the problem that guy on adv rider had could have been the length of the shoulder, if its tight around your upper arms have a go at folding the shoulder part in, seems weird but it felt a lot better for me :)

Solid video. I've had this jacket for over two months It's a stiff fit at first, but now it's truly fit to my body and an absolutely awesome jacket. I feel well protected while riding it. One that note, I have a few questions: 1) Would you suggest the Dainese Manis D1 G pack protector the best fit/protection for this jacket? Chest pads? Would that also fit the Dainese Stream Line D-Dry? 2) What jacket cleaner do you suggest? The white is getting dirty. Thank you!

Jacob Buffington For a sport jacket, it should be shorter in the front, so that it doesn't bunch up in the 3/4 to full tuck riding position. Jackets for more upright bikes (H-D, cruisers, ADV, standards) tend to be longer in the torso for better coverage in the upright riding position. -DrewZilla

I realize that the majority of your clothing is aimed towards the sport bike owners and maybe that's why my question may not be much of a factor. I'm on the tall side 6'2" - 220 lbs. I ride a cruiser style bike and while shopping I have to consider I have a long torso and long arms. I usually find a jacket that fits perfectly, until I sit on my bike and reach for the bars. The sleeves wind up looking like a baseball jersey. In leather I found that most jackets have a relief cut on the back side of the shoulders to help with the big guy in a little coat look. After many days shopping and trying on everything I finally found one with the relief cuts and extended sleeves. Now when I ride the sleeves end right at the end of the wrist like you show in the sizing video. My only problem is that the jacket I have is good for spring and fall but way too hot for summer riding. Do you have a selection of breathable fabric riding jacket that offers some protection while not cooking me like the rain gear would? I wish manufacturers would consider at least offering longer sleeve jackets for those of us who ride a more laid back bike. Excellent videos by the way. Very detailed and informative. Keep up the good work.. PS. I love the look you get when you say you wear the same size bot mostly because you have broad shoulders lol

Jacket size will depend almost entirely upon your chest measurement. Think of it like pants and a waist measurement-- without that you can't know what your size would be. Get some numbers and have a look at a specific jacket's size chart to see where you'd fall. -Kraus-e

So measure your chest and add 10"?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 5 жыл бұрын
US sizes roughly correspond to a chest measurement (38, 40, 42, etc.) and European sizes are +10 (48, 50, 52, etc.) That's not a hard and fast rule though, just take your measurement and see what the size chart says. -Kraus-e

Leather is crap and not durable. Full Kevlar or Dyneema is best which is also knife attack and bullet resistant, lightweight
