How to measure the average grain size by line intercept method| for beginners

If you are new in research and do not have the basic knowledge calculating the average grain size than this method is for you.Do you know about this, This method is for the beginners. You can calculate the size of grains just by drawing the straight line and the job done. But you have to repeat the same process for 5-7 times at different sections of you electronic micro-graph, SEM or TEM etc images. Than take the average, this way you can reduce the possibility of human error to minimum level and get the reliable result. The most important things is the quality of the image, if it is not good than I recommend you must not use this method. You can not get the good result from this method so you have to threshold the image in order to make it better for the analysis of image and let the Image J to do the job for you. Although handling of the threshold image is not an easy task, do you know that I have made couple of videos on threshold image for different types of images either good or bad.
