this is actually super helpful to see! for me, it can be really hard to visualize how to measure myself and how the tape should sit on my body (especially the way it curves around my back) when most of the measurement demonstration videos out there are done by slim people. it's SO important to have these visual aids available from plus size models, mid-size models, and multiple different body shapes in general. it truly does a world of good in making you feel more confident that you're doing it correctly when you have the visual reference for people with similar body types to yours. thank you for this video!!!

Me too . They say I should be a size 14 jeans in certain jeans that I’m an 8 in. Or a size 31 where I’m a 29 so confusing

@Kamille make sure to shop by the measurements but that don’t always work with the jeans so check the level of stretch. If high stretch size down

Yes! Thank you for making a video like this! I agree with you,it is difficult to figure out sizes,especially when all clothing companies make things differently and not everything is true to size. 10:25 this is my first time taking measurements and I tested out something with the inseam. First I stepped on measuring tape (the body one) and measured up and then subtracted the distance from my ankle to crotch. Then I put a hair tie on my left and right ankles and measured up to my crotch that way. All three times I got the exact same measurement. Either I am doing something really wrong or something really right!

Add another measurement where you are they widest. If like me you have a hanging belly you might be slightly bigger below. And it may just be, also like me, that you have to take that into account to get a proper fit. But for us apples, trial and error is often the way to go for the fit. Hope that helps x

These were all great tips! Thank you! My question has always been if I have my measurements how much do I want to add before picking a size. So I think you are saying compare my measurements to the size of garment and then go up to next size?

No not exactly.. the measurements are what the garment actually is (or should be). My bust measure 130cm. If I pick a top at 130cm with NO stretch, it will only just fit.. so if no stretch I will need to make sure the measurement will cover movement and access as well. With stretch you don’t have to worry as much. May I suggest you watch my video called “how to shop on shein”. Even if you are shopping elsewhere the tips there might just help a bit x

I believe it would be from the shoulder down. I’m not 100% sure but try on a dress you own already, lay it flat, measure from the shoulder seem to the bottom and then put the tape on you and measure down. Then try the dress and see if the measurement matches where the dress hits xx

What if the waist gets larger when you're sit down do you measure the waist sitting down instead?

Well comfort is key so yes garment needs to be big enough to cover movement of the body. If you find it makes a big difference when sitting down then yes I would take that measurement at well. Just remember that size charts are made when standing up. X

@@ImjustmeMarleen thanks I hope I didn't mess this one up, I measured the waist sitting down because the material is low stretch and when Sitting down the waist measurements went from 48 inches to 54 inches.

When standing up the waist measurements is 48 inches and sitting down the Fupa pushes the measurements to 54 inches. The dress is low stretch made out of sequin.

When you sit the fabric will also be able to move. You will use a bit of the length.. I hope that makes sense.. the best I can suggest is to simply try the dress.. (if ordering online just make sure you can return it.. x
