You're amazing man! Thank you for helping me get through finals week. (I've been using Bass to do 15-20 min breaks because I'm ADD-AF)

ability wise, i'm like grade 7, been playing for almost 4 years but somehow still struggling to remember scales 😂 it's quite surreal, cause i can improvise fine but the moment someone asks me to actually play a scale i get very lost lol
@donderwalvis67724 жыл бұрын
i know how you feel. been playing i bit longer. i'm fine at technique and learning songs etc. i can improvise on guitar when i know which root scale we're in but i'm just having a hard time with theory. most basic things i have manifested a decent understanding of but when it comes to applying it in practice when playing an instrument i get a hard time. i have to think about everything, which makes me unable to 'jam' with others.

I've played for 4 years too and have been in Jazz band for over 3 years and I'm still struggling lmao

Cool video, thank you! Trying to pick the bass up again after several years after a hand injury. Kicker is, got a new bass about two years back, then about six months later, injured my whole hand. I do not recommend trying to stop a runaway trailer. But, after a year and a half, I have most movement back in my hand again, so was thinking about giving it a go again. Nowhere near as much nerve damage this time around so i'm positive :)
@KeithCollyer6 жыл бұрын
depending on the nature of your injury, you might find a shortscale (30") more comfortable to play than a standard scale instrument
@HamiltonMechanical6 жыл бұрын
@@KeithCollyer I appreciate that, have thought about trying that since I'm a smaller guy anyway. I managed to cut off the tips of middle three fingers of my left hand, with my middle finger taking the worst of it. That was 2001, I was 16. I had a huge problem with hypersensitivity in the middle finger, and that took years to dull down. Finally started playing around again, wife got me a bass christmas before last, and then I tried to stop a runaway trailer loaded with two jet skis from hitting the back of my vehicle. Very bad idea haha. 22 stitches and 3 pins in the same poor middle finger, I've got movement all the way back to making a fist, with a tight fist being where the rest of the stiffness is. Amazingly, I suffered very little nerve damage from this last accident, and it seems to be all in the upper palm, so nothing I can't deal with, and nothing that should inhibit playing. I figure playing might be rather therapeutic in helping my hand to recover. I did manage to impress my ortho, and we have both come to the determination that having 1) a very high pain tolerance, and 2) being a mechanic and turning wrenches all the time have both contributed greatly to my recovery lol. I find your suggestion very helpful, I shall have to look into the shorter scale. Admittedly, this is something I had never heard about until yesterday. Wish youtube had been around when I was a kid, so many great resources on here! Thank you again for your suggestion :)

Great lesson as always. I now realize anytime we're playing higher octaves, we can/could/ work the lower note into the riff, and through. Or outro of the riff. Great instruction great help. Thanks

@maureenjacob34426 жыл бұрын
sam evans being dyslexic means your far from stupid, dyslexic people tend to be quite intelligent. It just means you need to learn another way that makes sense to you. Perhaps Luke can show you or you’ll discover a way that works for you. I hope other dyslexic people see your post and can encourage you. 😁

Hey Azi - in this video, I'm playing a Spector Euro, although I'm not 100% sure of the model and all that stuff. It's a great bass though.
@andrewhigdon83465 жыл бұрын
Azi Onama that looks just like my friends Spectre. Not sure the model, but it looked almost the same, with a bit prettier grain of wood. His is a neck through, with it being one piece of wood from from headstock to butt. The one my friend has is simply beautiful. It also was a fretless, and he had frets put in! That’s like big time sacrilegious stuff!! But he was playing metal. But the most important part is that it was the best playing bass I have ever picked up, and I’ve played some of the best made ever. The body cut out on the inside fit your hip just so. Awesome! Specter

Thank you young man this is very helpful, the Lockdown nearly destroyed me, so first chance I got i invested in a bass guitar and bass amp, because my hands are too large and fingers too thick from working on the building site, it's hard to go out now after so long, I've always loved blues and bluegrass Rockabilly with a touch of Floyd Hendrix and AC/DC I'm a total Newby but it helps maybe 6months from now I'll be able to take the headphones off and not worry about pissing the neighbours off, not that I give a crap, it's just common courtesy kind regards Martin
