I think this is a good example of why anyone who records or mixes needs to be able to master. Even if someone else is going to do the final master, being able to test your mix against bus compression, EQ, and limiting, and then be able to course correct and make final adjustments to your mix before sending it off and wasting someone else's time and your own money.

If you master & mix in one pass you can bypass a lot of the back and forth tweaking Tue had to do.

Yes, I agree - It's good and important to know the loudness rules, but if you're doing commercial work, you're "shitting all over the rules". And the pros know this. One of the most important things I ever heard was Lord Alge being asked "How much compression on the 2-bus?" And his answer was "As little as I can get away with". And that's in the context of mixing - the edit master. Mastering is a different story, but still you want as little as you can get away with - but to get the aesthetic or technical effect desired.

Nice, deftones a,b. Great mix. I just cant seem to get my compression less obvious (sounds squashed). Rather than going back into the mix, can you correct it with the Linear EQ?
