I was constantly changing these at about 5000 miles. Using the low sulfur 5W-30 Mobil1 ESP as recommended by the dealer. My newest truck engine only has 20,000 miles on it and I can’t begin to express the frustration I have of these under powered 4P10 engines. Your videos very good and concise and we appreciate this. For those of you looking how to do it this is the way to do it thank you again.! On the bright side for me, I got tired of the engine going to limp mode as these things are so damn finicky when it senses a high blow back pressure or, anything else for that matter. My trucks (5 of them in the fleet) are utilized nearly 100% of the time on the road so I get very little time to do any maintenance, let alone oil changes and these damn PCV filter changes. I know Mitsubishi recommended every three oil changes in and no way in hell these will go every three without changing the stupid filter! I solved my problem. I just removed the filter all together and so far no problem. This may not be the best way to go and I’m sure it’s there for emissions but for me it saves me a big headache. The double cab trucks are a pain in the ass as you have to pull up all the skirting and the left-hand wheel just to gain access to this damn filter. The cab overs are no problem if you can just flip the cab and get right to it. Suffice to say, at the end of the fiscal quarter these trucks are on the auction block and I’m swapping them out for gassers. 👍🏻

The sure do seem to need a lot of love and care these trucks - and I can only imagine the frustration when they are in constant use in a business operation!

The filter is kind of expensive but it's only 10 minutes of work! Good snap ring pliers are a must.

So you just remove the filter? Are you getting error codes or anything?

by removing that filter your engine is always going to be consuming oil, putting oil into the entire intake system. you're only causing larger problems to deal with later. with egr that soot is going to stick to all the oil and gum up your intake manifold, boost sensor and intake valves. ive seen it happen a few times. I am a factory trained fuso technician, have been working on these for about 7 years now. do yourself a favor and put that filter back in

This was a huge help About to drive 5,000 miles and it kept throwing a SPN 30 FMI 17 code - crankcase pressure too high. Thankfully, I had these parts in my supply already - thanks to seeing this early on 2014 Fuso FG (I didn’t have the 13mm screw to remove)

hi Bruce,like your videos very nice stuff. I have also a fuso 2017 and i have the error code for crankcase pressure and boost pressure control, the truck has almost no power engine light is red and blue and black smoke coming out the exaust, i can feel it misfiring also. would you have an idea about the problem? thx in advance

What is the code it’s throwing? Do you have the SPN and FMI numbers? (If not, you can get them through the gauge cluster, no tools required - watch my video to show you how)

SPN30 FMI 17 = crank case pressure between sensor in crank case and sensor in hose line is too high. - when was the last time the crank case filter was changed? Does your truck idle a lot? If so, the filter could be clogged with excess oil, causing the pressure differential to be too high. This filter spins in its housing, so high RPM helps clean excess oil out. SPN1127 FMI 15 = boost pressure control: too low boost pressure in closed loop control, data valid but above normal operating range. - when was the last time the air filter was changed? This boost pressure code can cause a lot of issues, it enables torque limitation for one - so that’s why you have reduced power. Make sure there are no restrictions in the air intake (mouse nest). If dirt/debris has gone past the filter you may need to clean / repair the mass air flow sensor. There are a lot of things that could cause this - but I would start with the easy ones!

Also, check that the turbo wastegate isn’t stuck partially open - or not actuating properly. Further to the above, and this - take apart your intake piping to ensure it’s not blocked up with soot, from the EGR.

Muy buen video amigo consulta cada cuantos kilometros se cambia ese filtro , tengo un fuso canter 815 con 32.000 kilometros y nunca lo he cambiado.

¡Gracias! Generalmente con el motor 4P10 con aceite sintético - creo que es 30,000km (o 12 mes) cada cambio de aceite, si no hay problemas con el combustible (diésel) en el aceite. (Pero mejor confirmar con su tabla de mantenimiento). 😎

Thanks Bruce! I’m getting a SPN 30 FMI 17 CODE RED It’s for the Differential pressure between the sensor in the crankcase and the sensor in the hose. Pressure too high Dealer thinks it’s a PCV filter and I think I have one (but not the other two parts, on hand. I’m going to attempt this repair roadside and hopefully - no more RED CODE The curious part though… Why does it only happen sometimes? I’ll get three codes in a row and then nothing for the rest of the day. (Yes, I am resetting them so I can keep driving)

Hmmm - if they are all happening before the engine warms up, it could be that the thicker oil is having a harder time being shed from the filter. (The filter spins with the engine speed) the warmer the engine (and oil and filter) and the faster the engine is rotating the more easily the oil will shed from it, allowing the air to pass more easily.

At times when put disease,i move some short distance then ,low power of acceleration come antill now ,so i changed fuel filter but it was very dirty ,i was same low power,so i want also to change a pump

Full-timer Mitsubishi Fuso Rosa Canter 1993 FG 170 4D33 4.3 NON TURBO 4wd 5 speed manual 2 range transfer box manual hubs 7 in factory lift 28K on odometer. JDM bookmobile, Island of Hokido origin. Pacific North West USA now. Snow bus always garaged, no rust. Mikuni hydronic heater, Mikuni furnace, no AC. Thanks for video on rear brakes inspection, looking forward to fronts.

Hi - unfortunately I don’t have a link for the filter to buy online, but QC000454 is the dealer part number - if you take that to a Fuso or Mercedes dealer or aftermarket parts supplier they should be able to get you what you need!

No, haven’t had that - but I would start by draining the fuel filter bowl and replacing the fuel filter. Take a visual look in your fuel tank to see if you can see any visible watt separated from the fuel.

Shouldn’t get anything, at most maybe a drop off the filter - but it’s designed to drain back into the sump.

Does the PVC Filter have anything to do with the Engine Oil component? I have an Orange "Eng Oil" light and alarm beep that didn't not leave even though oil change was done. Would this help?

Did you re-set the service timer when the oil change was done? (Depending on year, check my oil change video to see the re-set sequence)

Hi, part numbers I used as follows - but just double check your VIN with your local dealer to make sure they match your truck; PCV Filter: QC000454 Shaft seal: MK667058 O-ring: MK667060 C-Clip: MK667051

Hmmm, I think I’d swap that and say lucky you!!! 🤣 We don’t mind seeing snow, but the months of sub-zero temperatures sure take a toll on motivation and productivity!

@@BruceandKrista seeing some of the effort that goes into staying warm in those places I can only imagine it would be similar but opposite of the heat, weeks where the temp is over 35c for most of the day and 70-100% humidity and that’s on the coast, go an hour inland and it can be easily 45c

I believe you are absolutely correct, the only difference I can think of is having to contend with freeze protection for water and battery systems - external water tanks and piping are a no go here, so we will have to get a little bit creative!!
