It's so much easier than the old days of having to harmonically mix and beat match, and find que points, all by ear manually with the platters bouncing around all over the show. Although I suppose there's a lot you can do with CDJs to make up for that, effects, remixing on the fly etc.

Holy shit, DJing is much more complicated than I thought
@devincoleman467110 жыл бұрын
What's even crazier is this is the "easy" way of doing it, old school vinyl beat matching and mixing was incredibly hard.
@TranceCore310 жыл бұрын
Actually this seems harder than using vinyl. I was watching a tips and tricks thing for vinyl and was much easier to grasp than this. But DJ seems super harder than producing. Even if this is the easy way, it's still ridiculous lol. I've always envied DJs but now I have much more respect with what they have to go through.
@wayneaveyard502110 жыл бұрын
Devin Coleman this fight as been going on for years now, vinyl beat matching is the same as digital, with digital though you have more effects to use and features meaning you can do much much more oh the fly this is why most vinyl Dj's use digital now i.e use laptops. but i have to say turn tables are much easier, instead of cue points you use stickers and instead of reading the bpm you have to hear it. they both have there pros and cons. ***** producing is much harder than Dj'ing due to you have to build a track from scratch what you have to follow rules just like DJ'ing then master it and hope its a hit. i know this because i do both.
@devincoleman467110 жыл бұрын
***** Digital also has sync and everything is laid out right in front of you, I'm talking true vinyl not serato vinyl, it's harder. But that's just my opnion, also I'm a controller DJ Traktor S4, I love digital and would never go vinyl.
@TranceCore310 жыл бұрын
***** I dunno. I know my ins and outs of producing, but I can't wrap my head around this. Maybe it's just the way armin does it.

So sick of hearing that DJing is just beat matching. All of these arguments over how to beat match is just insane. Some people like to use counters, some like to do it by ear. I like to do it both ways. Use BPM as a guide then fine tune with my ear. The way I look at counters is it gives DJs more time to spend on effects and the crowd, rather than just spending your entire time trying to beat match a song.

@Gwilin either, do it at home by, matching the key using scales, or you can you look up the key on beatport, just make sure you write down what the key is so you remember it. Also you could buy and download mixedinkey for 58 dollars and it will examine and display all the keys on your tracks, also it is an introduction to harmonic mixing.
