Hope you guys enjoy! Don't forget to like! I want to add it's important to remember the difference between mixing and mastering as it seems its commonly confused (thanks to Cyberselfs comment on my last community post stating this!) Mixing is processing individual tracks, making sure none collide with eachother and fit in the mix together nicely. Mastering is the final step of processing the track as a whole. In this video i show my method where i often go back and forth! I tend to mix and master my track as I produce and by the end of it my tune is already complete! Not everyone does this but its whats natural to me! Thanks for watching

I just thought of a another thing. When you’re sound designing with chorus / any effect that affects the sub’s stereo field, add a mid side EQ after that effect and cut out any frequencies below 100 hz.

Positive Voltage I’ve been looking at that actually. I’ve had a free splice account since launch and just activated a free two months trial. Looked at their pay as you go plugins. $200 for a plug-in synth is still pricy even spreading it out over a bunch of payments. But thanks for the suggestion anyway. I’m still considering the pros and cons. Seems like that’s become the dubstep Riddim bass sound plugin instead of massive these days.i have a ton of synths that make solid sounds but Serum has a distinct sound.

Idk about setting your sub to completely zero. Skrillex manages getting it close but hes got engineers and stuff helping him out. I average it out at around -4 to -6. I find if its too loud it sucks up the track. I try and actually make the waveform in the spectrum look relatively flat just gives everything a fuller sound I think

@TUTOSANDROIDtutorialesymas
@TUTOSANDROIDtutorialesymas 4 жыл бұрын
When gain staging, its easier to mix at lower volumes, so people run their channel tru a -6, -12, or even positive numbers, like +6 or + 12, since it allows them to fine tune each instrument's volume without the coloring wich mixing at a higher volume would, of course, this is not needed at all, but i do like mixing at - levels, since i feel it gives me more space to play arround with each element without my master clipping like crazy, but u dont really need it, its a totally optional thing

Hey Moonboy, just curious on your thoughts on something. Seems nowadays music tutorials on how to do everything are just there to learn, for free. Seems too good to be true. What do you get out of providing valuable information like this? Also, music production seems relatively simple once you learn how to work your DAW, things just seem logical and simple to manage. Or maybe it just seems that way after you learn how everything works? You understand what I mean? Good video as usual. Thanks for taking the time to teach people.

@death_throes
@death_throes 4 жыл бұрын
The Official J3ROM3 You want to turn all of your instruments down so that when you play them, they peak around -18Db. After you write your song and do your sound design, then you can start to mix your channel levels. You’re shooting for -6 to -3 Db in the master channel after that to give yourself headroom. Then you’d use this master channel rack.
@SnoMan1818
@SnoMan1818 4 жыл бұрын
I dont agree with sub being the loudest because if youre like me it would get clipped by clippers or the limiter. You need to give yourself enough headroom that only the transients/peaks get squashed and not important/tonal elements like the sub. Some like the sound of the distortion cause by this but to me it sounds tubby and not so pleasant/looses energy

I agree, from experience the sub at 0db just gets distorted the crap out of the mix after going through the limiter. The overall mix summing at 0db has made my mix a lot cleaner and balanced (with the sub sitting no higher than -10db)

The sub shouldnt be the loudest thing in the mix! The drums need to be the loudest thing in the mix, then the bass, THEN the sub. The sub gets louder thanks to compression on master.
