Hey Mike, was thinking about you decoupling pick, what about a small magnet glued to the pick and a metal wood screw in the facia or maybe a 1/4in PVC about 2 1/2 long with one end capped or plugged to make a holder and mount it to the facia

Hi Mike, have you ever tried using SculptaMold for blending in your rock castings? One thing I like to do is mist the dried plaster with water before applying new plaster, so the dried plaster doesn't wick the water out of the wet plaster causing it to become brittle Cheers, Rich S.

I do not like SculptaMold. Too lumpy. I base my watering of the surface on how wet the plaster I am applying is. Thanks , Mike

hello Mike, on that mixing of plaster, do you think one could take a yard sale blender or coffee grinder and run it through to make it finer to use. I am retired and hate wasting anything with the way everything is getting more expensive these days.

Mike do you ever add paint to your plaster mix? Also would those little plaster peices you threw away make good boulders at the bottom of a rock wall or stream? or will dissolve once you put the water and glue down on them(maybe paint them 1st)? BTW thanks for other how do video I do appreciate them =)

I have never had very good luck adding any pigment to the plaster. The mini boulders sort of disintegrate when wet. Thanks , Mike

Maybe it was Vermiculite the cube or rough kind not this round ball type they use in potting soil now i know the old timers used it for some things gosh i have not seen a bag of that in years /Wayde

It was a mix of several things , I just do not recall but it dried grey. Mike

How much working time do you get with that mixture? Every time I try to use hydrocal I never seem to be able to use all of what I make.

If you do not add any plaster you likely have a few hours but depending on the type of added plaster it could range from 20 minutes to the few hours. Thanks , Mike

No , as the kato turnouts are polarity reversing and not twin coil. It can be done with a Digitrax ds64 or similar board that does the reversing. Thanks , Mike
