Add (sprinkle, don't dump) your plaster powder into the water. Let soak for three to four minutes before mixing. Use plastic Dollar store spoons or a wooden paint paddle. Hand mix at least three to four minutes. Tap sides of container while mixing to release air bubbles. This method has worked for me for the past 50 years!!

Hi there, thanks for spotting this! The correct ratio is 1 part water and 2 parts plaster. There is a typo in the captions. We're very sorry for the inconvenience!

Using Plaster of Paris. Did 2 parts to 1 part cold water. It said to mix then sit for 20 - 30 minutes. It's still watery like whey and milk. Tried mixing it in a small disposable shot cup with a stick for a small repair. What did I do wrong? Also, if I use a regular spoon, how do I get the Plaster off of it?

Hello, without knowing exactly what steps you took, here are some tips; The plaster must be mixed into the water, not the other way around. It is hard to get the accurate amounts when mixing in very small batches. We would suggest mixing the plaster in a plastic bowl about the size of a cereal bowl. We do not recommend that the plaster sit for any length of time. As soon as it is mixed and smooth it is ready to use. Never put your hands in plaster. If you use a regular [metal] spoon, allow the plaster to cure and it can then be chipped off. Hope this helps!

@@MontMarteArt Ah. That would do. I did water IN the mix. Good to know for next time. I just waited a long time till it looked usable like normal. Questions: If Plaster gets on my hands, is there a Carcinogen Issue or something Dangerous? Like, the Metal Spoon, it'll chip or rub off eventually, right?

@@Mary-Ann_B_Mabaet There are no carcinogens in Plaster of Paris 😊Plaster is made from Gypsum which is an organic compound. We recommend wearing gloves when handling Plaster of Paris but if a bit of it does get on your hands, it will wash off.
