Nice video. Must remark, however, that it is inadmissible to assign fractional students, so we would normally have to specify that all our decision variable values be integer. It is a property of transportation problems that minimum objective function values can be achieved (under broad constraints) with integer allocations - although it is sometimes the case that the same minimum value may also be achieved with fractional allocations. The Simplex method, used by Excel, finds the integer allocations.

Hi Steven! How are you? I hope you are doing well. I am not sure if you can help me. I was wondering whether you would be free for a 1-2hrs consultation sometime soon, as I am trying to model a linear programming transportation problem for my business concept. The idea is to offer grocery deliveries from small shops, as opposed to supermarkets and warehouses. The benefit of delivery from small shops is that they are often closer to customers. However on the downside, you would need a courier in the area, and to pick up from multiple shops (as small shops don't have as much assortment). Thank you so much for taking a look at this.
