I've looked for a tutorial on something like this in the past, but never came upon anything. Thanks for sharing this technique!

Would be a cool feature in the future if you could create patterns like this and wrap it to your polygons like a material.

You can, it is called a normal map :-)

Thank you for youyr your great lessons! A small question - and what about hte triangle faces that appear after you Merge vertices of the main polygon? Isn't it necessary to leave the surface all in quads? Thank you in advance if you answer

Im creating an interior lighting scene "all are looking nice" but Im on the edge of stress and pulling my hair out because I cant render a decent sofa using arnold... I dont know what to do... everything else are fine but the sofa isnt, no matter what I do about the sheen and bump it always looked like a rubber or lambert something I cant .... I just cant get it Im here searching everything how to this how to that ...

Leather has a special "sheen to it" that you need to create manually. Decrease the specularity of your leather material and then manually increase the "spread" of the specularity

I found that using a noise for the base colour, and tweaking the noise colours so one is slightly lighter, then adding sheen and a really low bump value, I was able to get a pretty realistic looking fabric couch. And for leather, it’s pretty easy, just a matter of getting the spec roughness right

I think this lesson is wrong, because people learn how to do wrong. There is too much scatter in the sizes of polygons, and it is highly undesirable for such thin triangles, in general, triangles are undesirable, this in the future may cause problems with UV and texturing, and then you will have to redo the model.

Ok, but how can i add it to a couch?
@MHTutorials3D4 жыл бұрын
It is not a texture. You create it as the couch
