Biggest thing I can say, is if you have a P71 don’t waste money on a KN intake. Stick with the P71 stock airbox and a KN drop in filter. If you don’t got a P71 get a junkyard P71 intake and you’ll be alright. Many folks get the KN kit and find it throws codes and doesn’t work as well as you’d think. Other than that, you’re pretty spot on.
@Admiral_Potato416 ай бұрын
The K&N setup is also crazy expensive for basically a non gain over the stock box. When I had my P71 I went all in on suspension (thanks ADTR you dudes kick ass). I already had the 3.55 Tru track rear so it moved decently with just a K&N drop in, J mod and full exhaust.

I have a 2000 Mercury Marquis GS that was my mother's that I inherited. It has the high performance 4.6 interceptor motor with air suspension, posi track rear end, dual exhaust and only 29,799.0 original miles. I now have it at my home, and I have replaced the blend-door-module (which was painful to say the least), and I have 2 new rear exhaust insulators to hang the rear twin exhaust. It is truly a bad ass car, and it lays rubber doing 60 MPH. My mother (bless her soul) always had a hot car because of my father, and I miss my dad and mom both. My mom had a 1968 Ford GT Fastback Mustang with a 4 speed and air conditioning (that I wish I had now), and she then got the 1970 Pontiac Bonneville 2 Door with skirts and the HO 455 motor with the Turbo Hydromatic 400 transmission. With that car I raced a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, and it just barely beat my mom's Pontiac. I am 67 years old, and I grew up during the Factory Hotrods through 1970. Take care/
@DueceBigalow-c4z8 күн бұрын
There's really no such thing as a high-performance p71 motor. Internally they were identical to the civilian version they just had a different tune and intake throttle body. Better gears fatter sway bars better sway bar links dual piston calipers some of them had a quick ratio steering box pre 2003 etcetera. But there is no such thing as a high performance police interceptor engine per se. I thought that for quite a while too until I really got into the panther platform. Hang on to what you got and step up a few years to 2003 Plus and you'll have a much better riding handling more powerful and much easier time finding wheels that fit. Plus the interior seems to be better and the overall ride just seems more big car body on frame front V8 ball swinging American car style.

I have had every pretentious twat car there is: Audi, Saab, Alfa Romeo, BMW, Benz. The response other motorists have to a stock black mercury grand Marquis makes up for any vagueness in the rack and pinion steering, and the air suspension meant I could drive 900+ miles a day for four days and feel fine when I got to California. My Alfa 159 was fun to drive, and the Saabs were great too. The Grand Marquis is a pleasure to ride in and watch the miles go by. The fact that everyone around you subconsciously checks themselves and gets out of your way makes it an easy car to drive.

finally! someone who measures the world in how many crown vics he can buy. i thought i was the only one. this is the 4 door sn95/new edge. (some say fox but let’s be real). only thing that is annoying is the speed. need more speed once you do everything to it, literally everything to it. it’s the most fun you will have with 250 hp. this is fords “scat pack charger”. my biggest recommendation for the car is to do literally everything to it before looking for speed. go for gears, tune, suspension, wheels, sway bars, etc before you even touch the engine. you build and learn this boat and you will have the most fun ever.

The 03+ Vics actually have a better rear suspension setup than sn95/non-cobra new edges/s197 Mustangs. The Vics have a watts-link while the Mustangs, until they went full IRS with the s550, have a 3-link panhard setup.

I can appreciate this guy's efforts to sell K&N intakes and Magnaflow exhausts on his website, hey he does have a business to run. But those are two of the worst wastes of money for your P71/P7B Crown Vic. The factory police package induction and exhaust flows about as well or better than any N/A 2-valve 4.6 will ever need, especially without a tune. In fact, the factory cold air intake system flows exceptionally well. It was developed alongside the Mercury Marauder. A K&N won't help you, and the oil from the filter will give you MAF issues. Skip. Anybody who really cares to know these cars knows rear end gears (swap to 3.73 or 4.10), a basic Ford limited slip (if your car didn't already come with one) and a Marty Ochs (Mo's Speed Shop) tune (via SCT X4 tuner) are the only mods worth any money. You can do both for under $1500 and have a substantially faster and improved car. Next, if you must spend more money, consider suspension work - and this can be as simple as replacing OEM control arms and bushings. Maybe get a beefy ADTR rear swaybar. If you wanna drop it, get the Ridetech coilover kit. If you really want to earn your stripes, go for the 5-speed swap - it's relatively easy and my sweet Lord combined with the above mods, you'll never have more fun in a Crown Vic. Boom...you're done modifying your Crown Vic. It'll never be any better, unless you step into the relm of forced induction which let's be honest, only 1% of us will do. Ported intake plenums, throttle body spacers, CAI and exhausts (including headers) are all wasted money. The Panther 2-valve sucks and blows more air than it needs just the way Ford built it. The only exception would be on NON-POLICE package (grandma) cars or cars older than 2003, where an improved CAI and dual exhaust would actually really help. And let me end by saying that Cleetus MacFarland is a dumbass and anyone who loves P71/P7B Crown Vics feels (or should feel) the same way.

From someone who has done about half of the ADRR catalog, the ported intake plenum and cat back is no waste of money. The factory exhaust is crush bent and very low flow. Headers and a catback with the intake plenum pulls like a freight train above 3k RPM. LOTS of suspension mods will do well. Start with shocks, then sway bars, then control arms and watts link. KYB Gas a Just is the best value option next to coilovers. I do regret the ADTR zip tube and underdrive pulleys. Other than that, I love every other mod

All I've done is respray it in the driveway, fish a back seat out of the junkyard, put an Ebay steering wheel from a similar year Lincoln on it ($35) for cruise control, and hack a hands-free infotainment system into it. Left the ride height and steelies alone and put chrome lugs and bullets on 'em. I like the look a lot; I wasn't going for the cop look at all. So far, I've driven the wheels off it and whatever breaks, I can fix easily. I love this fucking car!

99-03 best years, spark plugs are a common issue only because its 4 or 5 thread i forgot but re threading will probably be in your future no big deal, that was my only real issue with crown vics other than that literal tanks

I have drove them since 2000, way b4 it was cool, the last one I got 2009 P71 I did a 1985 C-10 swap the only C-10 crown vic swap. I have the only one, every one has done F100 crown vic swaps, so i decided to piss off ford and chevy people...lol I call it HalfBreed, live your content and if you would like to see and hear my C-71 let me know, it does not sound close to a crown vic , only the start up.
Mo's Speed Shop and ADTR.net are THE places to start for the Panther platform. Go there and learn first. I own a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis with following mods. Custom springs with KYB shocks, AFE CIA, ported and polished throttle body, Marty tune SCT tuner (engine and tranny), plugs, dual exhaust with flow master flow through mufflers, rear end changed from 2.73 to 3.27. Stock 0-60 mph was 8.9 sec. These mods took me to 7.0 on regular gas and I get about 23 mpg on highway trips. Car has 70k miles and I'm about $7500 all in.

If its a patrol P71, your probably gonna be chasing wire gremlins for days..look for a detective or sergeant p71..remove the pushbar tho as it makes you look like a jackass and adds weight to the front end..

The crown vic is rapidly rising as a popular classic, and it's only been out of production for a little over 10 years...
